This thread has been resurrected per the news of the death of Harold Russell at 88. He was a resident of Massachusetts at the time of death and I suspect that pronounced New England accent of his was not by accident. What a suprise to see him again when Inside Moves hit the theatres several years ago. Anyway, I shall raise my glass, as it were, and put on Homer Goes Upstairs in his honor.

And in point of fact, several Friedhofers have been released/announced since a year ago:

"Between Heaven and Hell"
"The Bravados"
"The Barbarian and the Geisha"

and coming soon is "The Bishop's Wife."

They may not sell, but thank goodness they're being made available.

I wonder how the FSM titles sold!

Of course, it's never explained in the film why Russell's character, Homer Parrish, is the ONLY person in all of Boone City (modeled on Cincinnati) to have a Boston accent...

The power to move within this film never diminishes no matter how many times viewed. It aired on TCM again a few days ago and I'm currently watching On Demand. I lost it twice within the first twenty minutes. Ok so it's 20+ years from the opening post and I'm reaching official Social Security retirement status in a month. Well I ain't retired but concede sentimentality must be beginning its senior citizen encroachment. In any case, this film is a masterpiece on so many levels. Wow. It is in my at-least-twice-a-year viewing roster (along with a handful or more of others) and the music this time seemed more amplified than ever and has me wondering if older mono has proven the best film music listening tool on TV. Whatever. It's just great to always look forward to seeing it again.
