I preordered it from SAE after listening to one cue, sounds really great cant wait for this one. sd
As I've raved in previous posts, this is one of my favorite scores in YEARS. If you're a fan of Bernard Herrmann's work (and especially his "Twilight Zone" and Hitchcock scores), then you should buy this ASAP. It plays like a long-lost Herrmann score, and it's incredibly cool!
I've heard all sound clips on SAE and ofic.film pages and I'm really amazed. It is really fantastic music. I'm really looking forward this release by Mellowdrama Records.
This does sound good... thanks for the heads-up. I`ve been interested in the film itself too since I saw the trailer some time ago.
Any background on the composer, who he is etc.?
Mankind77, can you translate those album/movie titles into english? Translated, the subject matter might more effectively tempt us into sampling them (same problem with many Morricone lists).
I pre-ordered a copy from SAE this week. I loved the score in the film. A Theremin! I'm just sad that SAE isn't getting copies in stock until August 22nd.
I absolutely LOVE this score!!!! Herrmann is alive!!!!!! My fellow spanish composer, Roque Baños has really written a masterpiece, no doubt about it. As I'm listening to this score right now I'm completely ansorbed by the power of the music. This is great film music folks. Really great. Mr. Baños should be scoring major film in the U.S pronto. Dark, strings on the foreground a la Vertigo or Psycho, melody, sad music...if any of those words wets your appetite do yourself a favor an GET THIS CD NOW!!!!!
And today i bought it, and it's excellent. Gentle and creepy in places. An almost lullaby quality to it. Has a sly sound in general. Bought it at HMV manchester 14 quid or something. Thanks Mellowdrama records!
Well I like to travel. (And it is only half an hour down the road) I nearly had a fit when i saw it, and snatched it up like a child from oncoming traffic.
Listening to my newly arrived CD right now... and wow is right. Thumbs way way up for this one, a perfect companion for the approaching Halloween here in the States!
I somehow missed this film, but Ms. Birri and I watched it last night.
The composer perfectly recreates Herrmann's Twilight Zone aesthetic, in terms of both instrumentation and harmony. I was fooled a few times into thinking it was tracked with Twilight Zone music.
And a big thumbs up for including a track from the Harry Revel/Sam Hoffman/Les Baxter theremin masterpiece "Music Out of the Moon" in one scene.
Excellent score. There was a time I listened to it almost every few days. Film was decent enough too. But the music is great! I tended to listen to it all as an album every time I listened to it, as opposed to having favourite tracks.
