Actually, this thread fell right into my self imposed hiatus from the Film Score Monthly Message board in 2005 (which lasted roughly until 2014 or so). In that time I did not visit this board or posted here, apart from maybe one or two times when I stopped by, for example when FSM stopped producing CDs. It also contains all of his collaborations with other artists. There's a nice set titled "John Williams Jazz Beginnings" with his quartet, septet, octet, some solo performances and orchestra featuring Johnny Desmond. It's on Fresh Sound Records jazz city series, FSR 2228. There's an interview with pianist Roger Williams on youtube telling the story as to why JW is credited as John Towner. It's a great album and deserves a CD release. May I suggest the 2002 re-recording of this album made by Steve Houghton Quintet "The Manne We Love: Gershwin Revisited". Being that it was on Kapp, I'm guessing that the masters were lost in the Universal fire.
