If it's from the LP, wouldn't that make this the track list?
1. In Search of Unicorns (04:05) 2. The House (02:37) 3. Dogs, Ponies & Old Ruins (02:15) 4. Visitations (02:54) 5. Reflections (03:16) 6. The Killing of Marcel (03:14) 7. The Love Montage (04:49) 8. Blood Moon (03:16) 9. Land of the Ums (01:45) 10. Nightwatch Rise (02:55) 11. The Waterfall and the Final Chapter (04:21)
I've only heard a few snippets of the score, but I liked what I heard enough to know that I'd buy it on CD in a heartbeat, which I did this morning. I remember really liking Blood Moon.
Recordman would probably be able to provide some more information about the bootleg LP. It's been around for a decade or two.
Prometheus is saying in their item description that they mastered from this LP release.
They had NOTHING to do with that release. It's the only known source for the music.
You guys are just looking for any chance to start trouble, aren't you...
This release was legitimately licensed from the rights holders.
Well, this definitely brings up an interesting argument that this CD, in a huge way, and more or less, legitimizes "bootlegging" and that they can now be seen as a reliable source for providing, or saving, long lost film scores.

This is correct. We just received 2 of the 3 a few hours ago and I took a look for everyone. Track listing is the same with 11 tracks.
In other words the release is legit, but the source isn't.
No.
The source used was the original ACADEMY "For your Consideration" LP that was sent out by Mr. Williams then agent.
It helped get him a nomination for BEST SCORE that year.
everything that followed (including all of the bootleg editions) used this pressing as it's source.

So... if we understand you correctly, the master source for this CD, apparently, is an original ACADEMY "For your Consideration" LP sent out to Academy members in 1972, and in not from one of the later "BOOTLEG" LPs?
Then why is it being advertised/marketed as mastered from a "BOOTLEG?"

So... if we understand you correctly, the master source for this CD, apparently, is a "BOOTLEG" of the original FYC "PROMOTIONAL" LP and is not mastered from the original LP that was sent out to Academy members in 1972?

The source used was an ORIGINAL LP sent out to the Academy Music Branch.

In his answer Mr. Thaxton said that the "source used" (for the CD, I presume) was the original FYC-LP.

To me it read that the source used was the original "for your consideration"-LP....
I'd changed what I had written above... but am wondering why the title is listed on SAE as essentially having been mastered from a "BOOTLEG" and not from a the Academy promo LP? Kind of a stupid slip of the tongue if this is not the case. Having the word "bootleg" mentioned within the confines of any legitimate release is just plain bad marketing. Still, it appears this is legally licensed and that's good enough for me.
I don't know. That's why I'm asking a point blank, should be easy to answer, question. For all I know it could be a well known "bootlegger." But as you indicate, it must be pretty obvious.

All other releases flow from this pressing.

You're talking about the real world, Ford.
HERE, as been stated again and again, composer promos and guild (Academy) promos are considered like bootlegs, threads have been frozen and/or dropped by the powers that be discussing such things.
