I don't see way this release isn't strong enough to be stand alone.
First is the roster of talent: Director, Michael Crichton and the stars Albert Finney and James Coburn.
Second, this came out the same year as WOLFEN (1981).
Third, the cool, water sounding, electronica score by DeVorzon that glosses over the action like any classy score John Barry ever composed.

Even though this film has the distinction of being a flop and hardly a high watermark* for anyone involved (*pun intended) several limited edition releases have been from colossally awful films.
Goldsmith has scored dozens of said films,
in fact knowing his relationship with Crichton,
I wonder how he didn't get this scoring assignment (other than being unavailable).

This could happen this year...
Or even be one of FSM's last 6...
wouldn't that be a surprise! wink

Movies and TV shows that are not expected to sell in big numbers are sometimes sold as "burn to order" DVDs. With the current level of personal computers, home media centers and broadband internet connections, some kind of digital download would make even more sense—and there are plenty of existing music services that could handle rare albums.

The stumbling block is: How much will it cost the publishers to convert old archives into a proper format for distribution? Looker is probably popular enough to warrant the meager effort it should take, but what does it really cost the publisher to make the conversion? Are the archive tapes in good shape, or will the material require remastering, etc.

I'd buy Looker in a second. I wish that would be released.

Metryq is new here but I know him from elsewhere. He's a stand up guy.

Anyway, we have a lot of purists around here who love physical media, especially CDs, and they don't like the idea of download-only albums. But sometimes that's the deal, for economic reasons. On the other hand, sometimes a download-only album comes out and then later comes a CD. That happened with THE BLACK HOLE and 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA.

Would also buy LOOKER in a heartbeat.

Not me, I am not familiar with that film at all. However I would buy The Man With Two Brains in a heartbeat.

Both would be fantastic.

Uh... Okay. I bought the Intrada Black Hole and love the extended material. But you know what I did as soon as I received the disc? Exactly. Ripped it into the computer. When I do buy a download album, I (drumroll please) burn a backup.

But I'll keep my ears open and learn from the experts. Thanks, Zap.

My annual plea for someone, anyone to release 'Looker'.

Sigh. See you in 2014.

I'd get them both, and Looker the movie's worth checking out as well (one of Michael Crichton's better directorial efforts). It used to turn up pretty often on Lifetime years ago, probably because the plot calls for really good-looking women to be thrown off buildings. frown (Even the channel's continuity announcer said "Hey, I'm not crazy about beautiful women either, but I wouldn't kill them.")

That's not a bad idea, but what about Man w/2 Brains and The Lonely Guy double header by Goldsmith?

sssshhhh. It's all about "Looker".

Ha, ha! What if Steve Martin had been in Looker, instead of Albert Finney? "This gun doesn't work! It just makes me dizzy and lose track of time!"

TO Henry- You too, henry. I can't tell you how many Friday nights when I was a young kid I went to bed dreaming of SUSAN DEY after watching THE PATRIDGE FAMILY.

Perfect pairing of scores, I think: LOOKER and THE MAN WITH TWO BRAINS! Who could do it? I know that LLL has a good handle on all things Warner, but Kritzerland is home to the two-fers. Bruce? Bruce?? Bruce???

The real "Looker" was playmate Terri Welles.

I want "The Man With 2 Brains" to get a proper home video release, preferably on Blu ray disc.

Yes, please. I'm amazed it's never been available in widescreen format. A shame really. I grew up laughing my heinie off to that movie many, many times.

"Get that cat outta here!"
