Yes, while it could be argued that the original LP and CD contained the lion's share of the highlights, all in a tight wrapping. I always wanted that harp opening of KICK THE CAN and...moreso...the sad cue when the old dude is being fobbed off by his kids about visits. Truly heart-breaking stuff.
Likewise. TWILIGHT ZONE is an excellent score and it's Goldsmith, I certainly had to have the full score as well. But if posters are wondering and on the fence of this (so they are obviously not longing for the harp opening), I would say the original LP stands well on its own.
Great Goldsmith score from a great period saw the film in Nov 1983 found it an uneasy watch owing to its circumstances about 6 years later heard Jerry give a spirited performance of the suite one of his BBC radio concerts The FSM album along with 2 disc Poltergeist are prized parts of my CD collection.
The perfect thing about this CD release is that it has everything. The full score from the film. The songs and cartoon source music (if you so wish). The original album segment suites. And...even the alternate Young Again sequence from KICK THE CAN, without the Scat Man, is different enough compared to the other version to make it interesting. Expansion Perfection.
I've just remembered something else about the film. At the beginning of IT'S A GOOD LIFE, there's a scene where the kid's bike collides with the lady's car and it has always fascinated me because it is SO REALISTIC. I would replay the scene again and again when I was younger, amazed how nobody got hurt while it was filmed.
