For me, the whole thing is tainted now, because I could pick some cues, but never know if he really wrote them or not.
From learning he never wrote that tribal TV documentary thing (Millenium?) - Mancina did.
Also, how come Badelt got credit for writing the Pirates/Caribbean theme, then never got a mention on the two sequels? It must be a nightmare trying to sort out the royalty cheques!!
Anyway, my favourite tracks by him are the last one (two?-it segues) from Gladiator and the one were Simba talks to his father in the clouds from Lion King (This Land? - God, my memory's shit).
Fantastic music, whoever wrote it wink

Hans Zimmer wrote all the themes for Pirates Of The Caribbean. He was contractually obliged to only work on The Last Samurai, but he worked on Pirates Of The Caribbean anyway, and had Klaus Badelt be the main composer.

It's very easy to find out who composes what on his scores. Read the CD booklet.

My favorite Zimmer cue is "Cathy" from I'll Do Anything - a sweet, seldom-discussed score. I haven't really looked at any of Zimmer's stuff for an age as I lost interest when he did all those "composed by committee" action scores in the mid-90s. Maybe I'll visit some of his recent stuff...

"Life Goes On" from A League of Their Own

wish they would release this full score someday, great work from Zimmer really captured the nostalgia.

"The Battle" (Gladiator) is one of my favorites, but many come to mind. "The Kraken" (Pirates 2), almost everything from The Rock, "Leave No Man Behind" (Black Hawk Down), etc.

Hard to pick one...

Picking a favorite Hans Zimmer cue is like picking the best Ed Wood movie.

The Rock was mostly Nick Glennie-Smith.

Another vote for "Part II" from PACIFIC HEIGHTS, especially the middle section.

Runners-up:
"Going To Mexico" from THELMA AND LOUISE
"Light" from THE THIN RED LINE
"9am Central Park" from GREEN CARD

The credit for Thelma & Louise belongs to the amazing guitarist Pete Hancock.

And the work of Harry Gregson-Williams and Don Harper along with Hans. Some of the most memorable cues were by them. Regardless, the action cues were very addictive to listen to.

I'll Do Anything is one of my all time favorite Hans Zimmer score. It works on all level, as dramatic underscore, as a comedy, and as a listening experience. Very underrated, IMHO.

Yes, but the main theme - the most memorable segment - was all Zimmer's.
