Well this is very disapointing that there is only one release. Could it be a boxset, or just one cd? I'm not interested in SPARTACUS if that's it. I wouldn't mind if it was part of a batch, but only one title stinks.

Say it, henry - you WANT a Conti release - I know you want to...:-)...just kiddin' with ya, buddy!...:-)...I'd like to see another Conti, as well...:-)

Hi buddy!smileTo be honest I WANT a Conti release. I wonder if it could be a ROCKY set now that ROCKY IV has been released. That would be five movies represented which makes more sense than just one movie. But who knows?

Yeah, the ROCKY set would be a good one - I was also thinking about Conti's GOTCHA! from 1985. I know there are two great cues on my old MCA LP - I trying to think how much music was in that film - I can't remember - anyway, with the Universal vaults open now, that might be another score to get the CD treatment - do you remember that one, henry?...:-)

Of course I remember GOTCHA, good synth score by Conti. I'm glad you like it too.smile

Very exciting news. It has to be Spartacus if there's only one title being announced.

My wallet, however, is pissed off at me.

It will not be Rocky-at least this time. It will be SPARTACUS which has been a 50 year wait for those fans of Alex North's masterpiece. The original 40 minute lp/cd was woefully inadequate and all of the 'unmentionables' had questionable sound. The sound on the upcoming release should be dynamic as the elements survived. A suite from SPARTACUS will be performed during the upcoming Ubeda Festival. Marketing wise-this is a good time to release it.

AND, I'm sure that Varese has other classic scores in their pipeline including List Of Adrian Messinger and Marnie among others...

Then, there's UNFAITHFULLY YOURS from 1984 - I saw this back in the day and I have the DVD.
Cute movie with Dudley Moore with another Conti score - love that "dueling violins" scene in the movie...:-)

If it is SPARTACUS, why just release that and nothing else?

The problem with you is that you've been spoilt.

Because it's special.

I've been interested in non-Conti Varese titles too, SPARTACUS isn't one of them for me either. Like I said I woudn't care if SPARTACUS was just one of a batch.

Because it's Robert Townson's 1000th album released at Varese.

Oh well, maybe there will be something that you like in the next batch. Also, it's not as if we've been short of great releases recently. If it is 'Spartacus', then be pleased for those people who have waited decades for a full release rather than just thinking of yourself.

Just one?

Considering these club releases occur three times a year, that's a pity for non Spartacus fans.

Yes but they don't call it a club release, they say it's a special release. I wouldn't be surprised if the club releases are a week later.

Oops. I reread it, & Varese do call it a Club Release. Well it just has to be Spartacus. What we won't know until Monday is; how many discs, how much, & how many copies. Next Monday is a holiday in England, but I think that's just a coincidence.

The Blu Ray will be released tomorrow so it makes sense: it must be Spartacus !

From what I've read early reviews of the Spartacus Blu point to lots of digital manipulation thru UNIVERSAL. Will not purchase this. Robert Harris at Home Theatre Forum slammed it hard.

If it is SPARTACUS on CD at least that release will be better than the Blu-Ray release. :-)

It's also a holiday in the US -- Memorial Day. Interesting day to to it -- people can 'stay up' a bit more easily with the day off.

So is this for sure his 1000th album release? I would expect it to be a big title then.
