I've never seen (or even heard of) this movie before, but I really, REALLY like those sound samples, so I'm looking forward to acquiring the CD. Thanks, FSM, for expanding my film score horizons once again.

Now the question becomes, can I afford this now, or do I have to wait until next Friday?

The film is pretty much a precursor to AIRPLANE!, except that THE BIG BUS parodies the entire Disaster movie fad of the time... not quite as scattershot as AIRPLANE!, but AIRPLANE! pretty much sacrifices any and every thing for a joke. BIG BUS is more focused, but like most comedy, 'your mileage may vary'... I remember seeing this on a double bill with THE STING in the mid-70's and caught most of its showings on CBS prime time.

Written by Fred Freeman & Lawrence Cohen, who wrote a bunch of THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW, amongst other comedies.
They also wrote S*P*Y*S, however... and directed by James Frawley, actor-turned-director, who topped this by doing THE MUPPET MOVIE a few years later.

To think I posted about this score on Dec 22, 2010 in another thread, does that make me a...clairvoyant?

Thank you Lukas, so I did have the right feeling.

The samples sound as if they were recorded yesterday. Simply amazing. Why doesn't everything sound like this?

Unless I missed it, I can't see anything on SAE that says that it's a limited release. Even if it was it's not the kind of title that would sell out fast.

Yeah that sounds about right, still can't see it at SAE, & even so it's not going to be a quick sell out.

So it looks like I can't afford this till Friday. I will have to resort to the crappy bootleg for the next 2-3 weeks until I get the nice, snazzy, pristine, legal copy.

Got this in yesterday's mail, a welcome gift after a day of driving and waiting while a relative was in surgery...
Again, another stellar job by the FSM crew... and by Mr. Shire - This score and PELHAM are the works that brought him to my attention.

THE BIG BUS, TAKING OF PELHAM 1-2-3 and COLD TURKEY were 3 'grails' that I thought would never ever see the light of day outside of the movies they were in... that I now have all 3 recordings available, playable at any time... well, the 10 year-old me would've thought that the Future was pretty cool. At certain times, it really is...

Great job, guys!

Now the new guessing game... how long before SHANKS gets discovered and will either FSM or Varese do it?

So that sound effect about 1:18 into "Dan Finds The Bomb;" is that rubber bands over an empty coffee can? Sure sounds like it!

I can't tell you how glad I am that the Tommy Joyce material is on there.

Just saw this film on cable. I heard a piece that sounded like it was from Ben Hur. Is that piece on the soundtrack?

The main title music alone is a wonderful piece of music.
I'm really excited to finally have this score on CD!!!
