i really dig some of that super dated sounding synth stuff from those first few episodes. for some reason them meeting at the bar in DC from deep throat i think is coming most to mind. trying to recall how funky the music in the pilot actually was

For someone who for whatever reason has never seen a single episode of The X-Files, could peope recommend some pieces of music, perhaps on YouTube, to listen to? Because of all the reactions, I'm definitely interested, but I don't want to spend 50 bucks on something I've never even heard.

LOL MV!

Your first Hint was THE one thing, I was most interested in - the Intro finally in it's correct length!
How long have I been waited for that!

Somehow I just can't understand it, when only extended Versions of famous TV-Title themes get released. I want the version I've grown to love and the X-Files theme is one of the most important to me (if not the most important!).

Still hoping that one day the actual Angel-Theme will get released some day as well - to Wolfram & Hart with that Sanctuary Remix.

But back on topic:
Thanks so much LaLaLa-Land for this TV-gem and bring on the whole set - I'm sure it will even top your fabulous Millenium CD (that I just can't get enough).

Cheers!

Edit: And when's your avatar finally going all X?
I want to believe!

I'll be hanging onto THE TRUTH AND THE LIGHT, which makes for a nice "concept album." But it's nowhere NEAR an adequate representation of Snow's work on the series as a whole (nor could it be, given the date it was produced). LLL's box set will be essential -- for me, it's one of the most exciting releases of the last few years.

perhaps you best save your money to get the complete box series on dvd then. it was an awesome show, at least for 7 of its 9 seasons. i mean everything was very snow-ian but the musical styles could really run the gambit. fun and whimsical for post modern prometheus or humbug, or very synthy and time specific like in deep throat or just good action adventure stuff like in terma and tunguska. for a solid 3 seasons or so i could usually detect a new theme per every episode which was always a real treat.

Question for MV/LaLaLand:

You're uniquely positioned to clarify a question about source music used in The X-Files: in the finale of the episode Triangle, Mark Snow borrows a "Sing, Sing, Sing"/"Swing, Swing, Swing"-style piece and overlays it with some of his own synth work.

Do you know what the title/composer of that 'song' is? We've been looking for years for what this is. Incidentally, it's the same piece that has been used as source music in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (in the classroom Bogart scene).

I'm glad to know the answer to this. I've wanted that piece ever since I heard it.

I am more than excited for this release. I will be impatiently waiting by my computer to order it the moment it pops up.

However, now I'm going to ebay to find Hot Liquorice by Dick Walter.

I hope track 3 is the music that plays when Mulder and Scully drive into Bellefleur.

Nice, spare piano with light synth touches.

Hello MV, with this Thread you achieved, that I registered to this board, just to tell you, that I wanted to ask you, to do something like that. wink I cant await the 10th of May. If I could, I would pre-order it already.

So I'm waiting whats coming along in this thread. I have to say, until now I'm very satisfied wink

Scully to DC and Scully meets Mulder great, I think its a rhythm and soundscaping Mark Snow used also in Episode 2, when Mulder and Scully meet in the bar.

Also hoping for the Drive to Bellefleur and Scully discovering the marks on her body wink

Ok, so seriously I was waiting for this CD Box FOREVER!!!

I am looking forward to finally hold it in my hands, listen to it and remember my awesome time, when I wrote my thesis for my graduation at Music University "The musical development in an television series on the basis of The X-Files"
Good times!
