I like this score a lot. Super fun and light. I didn't mind not paying $20 for a physical CD. big grin

I enjoyed the movie and thought the score worked fine. Not bad!

And we'll probably never hear that theme ever ever ever again!

(YES I'm still bitter about Doyle's Thor theme!)

Saw the film today and it was a lot of fun. On the way back I stopped at the local comic book store and several Marvel books had a full page back cover ad for the soundtrack album. Never seen that before.

Saw it for the 9th time. Score actually keeps getting better and better.

Sadly the last two times were in a theater where a speaker was out. Dialogue and most of the sound effects all sounded normal, but vocals in the songs and certain sounds in the score were practically inaudible. The shot showing Starforce walking towards the Helion was missing a lot of those electric beats. During the fight on Mar Vell's laboratory after Carol goes binary, the song that played was so muddled that I could make out volume changes on certain sound effects.

I finally saw the movie yesterday, and I though the score was boring. It's like she heard super hero music before, but didn't understand what made it cool. I think of someone who doesn't speak a language, but tries their best to mimic what they hear. Some words are understandable, but most of it is gibberish.
And I ain't riding no wagon, I wish David Arnold scored it.

That is a great theme. Shame it didn’t survive.

Jeyl - 9 times????? How can you afford that???!!! Do you work at a movie theatre?

I can barely afford to see one showing these days!

Maybe the people who like it do so because they like it rather than jumping on a bandwagon?

Anyone else catch an INTERSTELLAR vibe on some tracks?
No implications.

I didn't, but I haven't listened that closely. And I think Interstellar could probably be boiled down to a fairly representative 6 minute suite.

What I'm saying is that my opinion about this movie and score is not based on the social justice warrior's politics & agendas. I see that the majority of this movie's hype and even existence centers around this.

It's ok for you to like this music Cindy, but I don't. I did like the movie, and I look forward to seeing Captain Marvel in End Game, But "...show(ing) these boys how we do it"...I don't think so.

Saw this today.
I let the bandwagon go past me and went on me bike.
Now, I've liked every score I've heard by Pinar Toprak so far (apart from KRYPTON) and fancy the pants off Brie Larson, but this film and score left me cold. I just couldn't get involved in anything or anyone.
Outside of one or two sequences, it bored me silly.
I think this is one of the worst Marvel films so far, down there with THOR 2 & IRON MAN 2.
I did like the Stan Lee logo tribute (did I hear Toprak quote the MG logo music when Lee did his cameo on the bus?) and some music bits were good (the car/train chase and stuff near the end), but I didn't leave the cinema humming any theme. It's about as memorable as Elfman's SPIDERMAN theme for me (= not very).
But!
They got her into the universe and she's good to go for the AVENGERS ENDGAME and I am looking forward to that one, then giving the whole thing a rest. I'll be all Marvelled out by then.
Naughty how they got that cat things name to sound like Fucker so they could nearly get Sam L to sound like he was saying Muddy Funster!
The kids in the audience loved the cat bits!

The "cat" was the best part of the movie! I thought Jackson was great and had excellent chemistry with Larson. Apart from their scenes together though I found Larson very underwhelming. There were things I appreciated about the film's twist, though I think it could have been executed/made its points better. I think the film was just above the worst Marvel movies. I was more consistently into it than the first two Thor movies, but amid all the mediocrity those at least had Loki -- the best Marvel villain in the worst Marvel movies. Oh, and Captain Marvel was leagues better than the worst Marvel movie -- the one everyone tries to forget: The Incredible (Norton) Hulk. I rank it above Iron Man 2 but probably under both Iron Man and Iron Man 3.

Jeyl - 9 times????? How can you afford that???!!!

Here’s the thing. I’m the type of person who has been a strong proponent for more female driven stories across all the mediums. So when they finally got around to releasing Captain Marvel (after being delayed twice to make way for more male focused MCU movies), well, I wanted to put my money where my mouth was. The fact that this film is doing so well brings me no shortage of gratification, and it proves that Wonder Woman’s success was not some ‘exception’ to that “Women Don’t Sell” mentality.

When I watch that ending exchange between Coulson and Fury about finding more heroes like her, to me, at this stage in the MCU, this was the franchise saying that more female heroes are coming. Whether they be new characters (Kamala Khan! Phyla-Vell!) or establishes characters (Black Widow! Monica!), it’s high time they become a driving force that moves the franchise forward. And hey, more female villains aren’t bad either!

But back to your question, some tips. Never get theater food. Also, you might want to check and see if your theaters have $5 discount Tuesdays. The Cinemark and AMC theaters in my area do those. Also, See if you can borrow a friend and/or family member’s movie pass or something equivalent.

That’s great, man. I totally understand where you’re coming from.

I would love to see Jackdaw/Blackbird show up at some point. Would be great to see her do the Megalith showdown with Hulk.

The worst Marvel movies are

1. Iron Man 2
2. Thor Ragnarok
3. Avengers: Age of Ultron

While I hated the above three, I have to say I find most of the Marvels are kind of mediocre. This DEFINITELY includes Captain Marvel and yes, Black Panther.

The BEST Marvel movies are:

1. Avengers: Infinity War
2. X Men: First Class
3. Iron Man 3
