If not reported already: 'John Williams watched the whole show, and he granted permission for his themes to be used in episode six and in certain places, and where the Yoda theme would go, and then that set the tentpoles for me. Like, 'Okay, we can't use the themes until this point, so we need to be leading to them.' "Deborah [Chow] was saying to me 'I think we need to score the show as if we're not going to be able to use [Williams' themes]...I don't want to find out that we can't, so let's make it work without. Let's do our own thing.'" Obi-Wan Kenobi: Composer Natalie Holt Interview: https://screenrant.com/obi-wan-kenobi-composer-natalie-holt-interview/ Certain fans will still say: who is Williams to say what needs to be done in Star Wars…

I mean, hasn't this sort of thing been pretty standard for studios all along? Name dropping for good PR, trying to create the image of a big happy family behind the scenes, no matter what the reality is... You can read between the lines of Holt's interviews, especially how they contradict one another, as to what an obvious mess things were on this. Uhh... everything's under control, situation normal. Had a slight production issue, but uhh... we've got the best writers, the best directors, the best composers, we'll churn out a certain amount of product... I mean, create the best stories, everything's perfectly alright now, we're fine... we're all fine here now, thank you. How are you?

Somewhere beyond all the droning negativity that seems attached to everything Star Wars, there is something still very special and magical about the power that Williams' music has--maybe it was cliche in usage but hearing Leia's theme again nearly brought tears to my eyes. What a special gift Williams has to write such emotional melodies--a theme I have heard countless times and thought I was desensitized to and here it is sounding as fresh and beautiful as the very first time I heard it, just absolutely destroying my emotional detachment to the scene and suddenly making me get all the feelings. There is something incredibly bittersweet about that moment, knowing how rare it is to evoke that kind of emotion through film music anymore and how few composers are even allowed or encouraged to express those kinds of musical sentiments. The one thing that I've taken away from all of these "new" Star Warses is that the series would be NOTHING without John Williams and that it is only through his music that it is elevated to something more than just film.

One more thing about the music used in the show. Am I the only one who thinks that Obi's theme is WAY overused? Undoubtedly not but reviewers have said the same thing about that sacred cow EMPIRE STRIKES BACK and the overreliance on Vader's theme (which is used pretty much every time Vader is on screen, which is quit a bit) (or even how wildly inappropriate some of the uses of Yoda's theme are in same film) so one perso'ns complaint is another person's "greatest score ever composed ever."
