Well, I got the original release as well as the previous Intrada release, so I definitely see not need to re-buy this again one way or the other. :-) But good to see it back in print.

This is on its way to me. Glad to finally get my hands on it. The long wait on this one has prompted me to move a little more quickly on other purchases that I otherwise would have waited on a bit. I can't remember, how long has this been out of stock (if you can call it the same stock with a slight remastering)?

Listening now...I don't know what the first edition sounded like...but this sounds good...the "complete" score is on the "quiet" side (I definitely have to turn the volume up more than typical for a score of this type). Still...the dynamic range seems reasonable...and the sound quality is wonderful. It's been a while since I listened to this score all the way through (let alone complete and then original back to back)...and I'd forgotten just HOW good it was! There really is a "magical" sound to it (and so many Horner scores)...it's just glows...it's just so pure and free of irony...totally sincere and ebullient.

Intrada's first releas was too quiet. This one is too? How can that be, this is exactly why they redid it. Are you sure you are reviewing the recemt re-release?

Waiting on my copy. I compared the sound clips from both versions on Intrada's site. The new one sounds. a bit louder. If I recall, the original album has all the bombastic highlights. The expanded tracks are the quieter, less bombastic cues. Also, Horner albums were criticized for this very issue back in the 90's, particularly during his streak of 70 min, SONY albums. In short, if the album produced in 91 had all the quieter cues, would there have been greater contrast then as it is now? Either way, we should all breath, relax and wait for more to be revealed.

I hope I didn't contribute to confusion on this...I think this edition sounds great...it's just not "Loud". I went back and tried to compare the one track where I should be able to tell if there's a huge difference..."The Zeppelin". On the original score cd (from 1991) and the newly remastered complete album...there is almost no difference in loudness. My biggest concern (which is what I'm assuming happened to the original "complete" cd from Intrada) is when the levels are SO wide that the quietest passages are so quiet that you have to turn up the volume, only to have the loudest passages be too loud...so you are constantly adjusting the volume (like the LOTR complete editions). This edition, while "quiet", has a good dynamic range, on par with the original album cd (again...to my ears on less-than-audiophile equipment). It only calls attention to the lower volume when I switch to something like Hot To Train Your Dragon...which immediately, at the same volume, just seems MUCH louder. As some mentioned, there are a lot of scores (Horner, in particular) where they are just mixed this way...I remember being frustrated by several original score cds back in the day for this reason.

From what I read here, Douglass Fake may have sent the older CD master to the manufacturing plant... Please don’t spread false information. It has a real impact on our business.

From what I read here, Douglass Fake may have sent the older CD master to the manufacturing plant... Please don’t spread false information. It has a real impact on our business. It was clearly a joke, not a false information. If I may, you should better tell your customers why your new remastered edition doesn't sound like the original album, or if it sounds the same as stated in the announcement you can also reassure them. Doubtful. I've seen many people take things that were "clearly" a joke seriously. And we've said all we're going to on this release. We're done with Rocketeer.
