Very very nice. Sadly I'm not usually a double dipper, and I got the last release which will do me. Otherwise I'd have snapped this up with the others.
I already own four editions of UFO (2 Fanderson, 1 Silva, 1 Unofficial) and that will mark the fifth one. I renewed my Fanderson membership and pre-ordered the blasted megaset. I wonder what new original materials will they include as well as new source music like “Trampoline” and “Get Back”. I am very eager to know if they finally found out the complete score for “The Long Sleep” (partly missing from the previous editions). I'm really curious if they will include the full “hippie” side of the music.
I've ordered the set as, after all, I'm a fan of UFO.
I would have thought all the major pieces were included on the first 2 CD sets. The recent Silva CD is an excellent distillation of the best music and is a great listening experience (though I agree with whoever it was on this forum who said the compilation of 'SHADO' cues (track 2) might have been better placed later in the CD). Gray makes much use of the 'UFO theme' in his scores, and there isn't in fact all that much 'action' scoring in the series in my opinion. A little music sometimes goes a long way, especially with the more 'suspense' based cues...
So I'm a little curious, if not a little apprehensive, as to exactly what material is filling 4 CD's. Also, I assume they'll be following the previous template for the 'second edition' CDs of creating episode suites which feature music specifically written for the series as well as stuff that's been tracked in from other Anderson shows (most of which is probably out there now). This seems to be an attempt to recreate the editing and placement of the music as it played in the episodes themselves, which is perfectly fine - although what works on screen with the images playing sometimes makes for a more disjointed experience when recreated as a stand-alone listening exercise (and with some repetition as well).
Fanderson's CD's have been absolutely top notch and UFO is one of the best 'sounding' of all his scores and they've really brought that out. The artwork for this release also looks especially eye-catching. I guess we'll find out how it all actually 'plays' in a few weeks time.
(Just as an aside Thomas, I'd say there is no chance at all that 'Get Back' will be included!)
I wonder if they found the opening cues from Identified? I also could see them padding this with mono and stereo mixes, like the 1999 Wadsworth set. Were there any cues used in the compilation films that were not released? Stuff like that tends to go into these rereleases to make them different enough to warrant a double or triple Fanderson dip.

Composed and conducted by Barry Gray.
Remastered and substantially expanded from the club’s long out-of-print 2003 (155 minutes) and 2010 (160 minutes) releases, this amazing 4-CD box set of soundtrack music from UFO contains the most comprehensive set of recordings from the series ever produced.
Includes suites from every episode of UFO : “Identified”, “Exposed, “Survival”, “A Question Of Priorities”, “Conflict”, “Ordeal”, “The Square Triangle”, “Confetti Check A-OK, “ESP”, “Close Up”, “Court Martial”, “Kill Straker!”, “Sub-Smash”, “The Dalotek Affair”, “Flight Path”, “Computer Affair”, “The Responsibility Seat”, “The Cat With Ten lives”, “The Sound Of Silence”, “Destruction”, “The Man Who Came Back”, “The Psychobombs”, “Reflections In The Water”, “Mindbender”, “Timelash” and “The Long Sleep”.
The album features music as presented in the episodes and, separately, music scored for individual episodes but was ultimately unused. It also contains numerous versions of the opening and closing titles, commercial break stings, library music tracks included in the 1980 compilation movie Invasion: UFO, as well as details of commercially-available recordings that couldn’t be included in this album.
The boxset features a full-colour 40-page booklet packed with details of each track (cross-referencing music to appearances in other Anderson productions) and musicians.
The entire set is packaged in a glossy slipcase.
Approximate running time: 308 minutes. Stereo and mono.
For me this is the best and most important soundtrack release of 2020 so far! A perfect final addition to my previous two FANDERSON 2CD sets, the Japanese NEOPLEX 2CD set and the Silva-Screen-Records Best-Of CD.
I had speculated in the past about a new Fanderson release from UFO. But I thought it would be a 3 CD set, in my opinion all original compositions would have fit on it. But of course you should never underestimate the fanaticism of fans! And the last CD sets from Fanderson have already shown how fanatically perfect these CD sets were planned and implemented. So I should have expected that for UFO too.
But the announcement of this 4-CD set completely surprised me on Sunday. I was afraid that after the release of Silva-Screen-Records destilized Best-Of UFO CD last year, another UFO CD set release by Fanderson would be blocked for the next 5-10 years! Luckily, I was totally wrong!
I'm looking forward to this CD set, like all previous Fanderson releases. And I can't wait to see the track list for the specific content of the individual CDs. Of course I hope for lots of original music and as few Mone / Stereo variants as possible.
This year, this CD set can only be surpassed for me by complete releases like THE TIME TUNNEL, THE MAN FROM ATLANTIS or a few other TV series. Let's see what the next 10 months will bring ...
Earth's greatest fear becomes a reality when UFOs are finally confirmed - the aliens come from a dying planet millions of light years away, seeking human organs to repair their own decaying bodies. In a raging inter-galactic space-battle, top secret defence organisation SHADO attempts to save Earth from this alien terror!
Specially made on videotape for syndication in Europe and America, this amalgamation of six episodes from Gerry Anderson's UFO has always looked and sounded below par - until now! Re-made in full widescreen from restored High Definition elements sourced from the original 35mm negatives, Invasion: UFO is presented here with both original mono and Dolby 5.1 soundtracks.
SPECIAL FEATURES: Original 1980 videotape version Original 1980 trailer Full-frame opening and end titles Textless end titles

Received my set a little while back. Wonderful sound, beautifully produced, worth every penny, including the quite reasonable membership fee. Do yourself a favor folks and get this set.

Any USA folks who want to split a $55 annual membership so we can order some CDs? It's too expensive to join just to order this set, which is $58 shipped. The more participants, the cheaper the membership. If interested, email me rather than post here.
I don't think your allowed to buy more than two of any CD set, unless a bunch of you want to buy different stuff. Aren't the new expansions sold out?
I believe the two of any CD set limit generally applies.
I have sometimes bought "my" extra CD set for non-members and Fanderson have sometimes been good enough to ship direct. But I only ever ask for what Fanderson have charged me.
As well as being a member as a fan of those shows, I also support their principle of making material available to fans that would otherwise not be. And the quality of what they produce is second to none IMHO. Even when compared to commercial releases.
And I also agree that there should be no general profiting by members.
I wasn't refering to you LastChild. You're a long standing and respected member of this group. I just meant in general. What I wouldn't do is just buy an extra copy and then charge an increased amount to sell it.
Interesting parallel with the Anderson series and how the USA was portrayed. In Doppelganger Ed Bishop's character mentions "Well Jason, how much will it cost us this time?" And in UFO, the American UN representative insists that the head of SHADO has to be an American "as the nation being asked to dig a little deeper into its pocket."

Did Anderson need the money, or was it just to make the series more marketable in USA?
Mostly as a concession to American audiences, I think. He was always putting in American accents and actors in his shows to sell them to North American markets.
The Tracy family all had American accents, even if supporting characters didn't. Most of the characters in Captain Scarlett had Martin Landau and Barbara Bain were cast to make sure Space:1999 sold in the US.
