It's strange to think that the last episode that aired was in 2018... wait, or was it early 2019?
Most of the second season was early 2019. The very first episode of the season aired December 30, 2018. The last episode of the season aired April 25, 2019.
I know right?! Is this the longest break in television history between two seasons???
What was the break between the later seasons of Game of Thrones? Pretty sure Westworld has regularly put out a new season every other year, and that was even before Covid.
Curb Your Enthusiasm went six years between seasons 8 (2011) and 9 (2017). There's been ten total seasons between October 2000 and January 2020, with the 11th coming out at the end of this year.
BTW, what ever happened to season 3? (other than Covid)
It is still being worked on, I believe they are wrapping up their last week of filming season 3. The producers are even hinting that there might be a season 4. Here's hoping . . .
Ah, thanks! Guess I'll have to order Hulu sometime in the near future...
And of course Doctor Who had quite the lengthy hiatus since the late 80s, before Russel T. Davies revived it. Continuity with the original Who series was kept though, so maybe it counts and would qualify as the longest gap between seasons (even if one counts the 90s TV movie with Paul McGann as a season, since he's also acknowledged in continuity and even reprised his role).
Sure there are other examples, things are done a bit different in the UK (Doctor Who) and on pay services like HBO and Netflix. Nor did I mean a revival of an old series. I meant a first run major network series still in production. It will be at least 3 or 4 years between season 2 and 3 of Orville.
Kevin Kaska, one of the composers I noted in one or two or three lists in this thread, as people who shuld get a shot at scoring on the show, has scored an episode of the upcoming season three (video with audio included):
I don't know where he got that date from. The official trailer says March 10th (and shows off a new bridge design and reveals a new subtitle - THE ORVILLE: NEW HORIZONS)

Cool! The original bridge design was so sparse it was actually a distraction, it looked unfinished. Still way to much wasted space on this ship, but I know they gotta fit the cameras on set.
The season three release date according to info' in one of dragon53's film/television threads:
THE ORVILLE---Seth MacFarlane said the new season will have its Hulu premiere on March 22. 2022.
Caustically optimistic. While I have some issues with the series its so refreshing to see a science fiction show that actually embraces classic Star Trek values.
