In this very special day, we think about the comoser and his outstanding creer.
Some great soloists had the good idea to recollect their souvenirs of the Maestro. Here's the link for the Ennio Morricone Celebration on Youtube, Tuesday 10th November, 2PM (GMT) :
The five celebrated musicians, who worked alongside the composer on some of his most iconic scores, share memories and stories about him and reminisce about his glittering career, spanning more than six decades. Morricone’s so-called ‘Dream Team’ – comprising Argentinean organist Giorgio Carnini, guitarist and composer Bruno Battisti D’Amario, Saxophonist and arranger Gianni Oddi, pianist and composer Enrico Pieranunzi and vocalist Edda Dell’Orso – convene for a special listening session of Morricone’s first posthumous album, Morricone Segreto, which is available to order now.
Indeed a dream team! For Maestro publication, we interviewed a good number of them (even if some are not publoished yet...)
You are right Thomas i will change it. Someone sent me info in a text.
"...This evening John commemorates the birthday of Ennio Morricone, who passed away earlier this year. We celebrate the great master of film music with his best known themes from across the breadth of his career, from Gabriel’s Oboe to The Hateful Eight. We also hear his Sergio Leone Suite and Giuseppe Tornatore Suite, which compile the most recognisable music from his collaborations with the great directors, from the album Yo-Yo Ma Plays Ennio Morricone, which spent 105 weeks on the Billboard classical chart.
Edit: sadly, this is also interspersed with other composers music, such as mahler bach etc. My first thought was..."what, Ennio not good enough for a whole programme devoted to him?"

Yes, it's a great documentary. The featured musicians - including Edda - shared some interesting facts about the way Morricone used to work. And listening to Marco, his son was really touching.
I liked the bit where Marco said his dad " avoided hearing others' music when composing - it was forbidden - because he didn't want to be "conditioned".
Nice to see George and Bruno discussing - and enthusing over - Edda and Gianna.

Indeed a superb tribute. I watched it twice in a row!
