I keep coming back to this, even though I have little time to listen to my own collection these days, and plenty of other stuff to listen to. Really glad for the album version and the alternates, etc. But when I listened to the album I had to immediately return to the first disc. I'm not usually convinced that expansions are better representations of the music, but it's very much the case with TWOK - even if it does get weird for a while after the main titles. (I like that kind of stuff, so works for me!) The album just still feels rushed to me, I love the added textures, space, and breathing. And so glad for the pure music of the epilogue now - and cool to have the album version intact. The Best of Both Worlds (oops, wrong generation ). And the sound is such a big improvement - hearing so much detail I don't recall noticing before. Some great expansions have come out this year - especially this one, Love Field and Company Business. All worth the repurchases.

I'm thrilled with this release. The sound is fantastic. And having read the liner notes, they tease out a lot of nuances in how the leitmotifs interact and have meaning in the story. So many musical meanings you heard but never put a name to. It made me think about how much TWOK has in common with The Doomsday Machine. Both scores narrate the story so closely, you can see it unfold in your mind. Maybe it's not a coincidence that they are the best original episode and the best film of the franchise. Having arguably the two best scores, or at least such detailed leitmotif scores, makes them irresistible.
