New Thunderbirds soundtrack release. To be released July 2020 by Silvascreen. On CD & vinyl. https://shop.gerryanderson.co.uk/collections/thunderbirds-soundtrack?fbclid=IwAR1B6cYOMXdrVcq2pletaSebj_Otk2gLHs0JQNLGXRhqeecTgc32eSiK-zI Not sure if it Fanderson related though I think they assist with the Silvascreen Barry Gray releases. The Thunderbirds soundtrack album features 37 tracks from 19 episodes (series 1 and 2), including the Thunderbirds main theme and closing titles. The tracks were not programmed to follow the episode order but to achieve an integrated listening experience, and is available on CD or limited edition vinyl. Looks like an anniversary release without anything new- unless you need this on vinyl.

The release looks nice, but if you own the Fanderson 4 CD box, you are pretty much set.

And Silva already did two volumes. I have them both and the Fanderson box. They must think there's something to be gained from this release.

The cover art is kind of adorable.

This is Silva's 4th Thunderbirds album. 1 & 2 are the ones to get. The 3rd album (2-CDs with a black cover) has a few prev unreleased tracks. This appears to consolidate the first 2 albums.

Can anyone tell me if this is all mono, or was anything from the various albums in stereo and likely to be included on the new Silva CD? I cant actually recall anything being stereo on the previous albums, although the ‘Century 21 mini albums’ themes set that Fanderson put out have a couple of stereo pieces (Dangerous Game etc) that were presumably intended for commercial release. These don’t appear to be on the new CD Hope that helps? Thanks for the info. I do have this excellent Japanese re-recording of Thunderbirds but it would have been great to have had some of the original music in stereo. https://www.gerryanderson.co.uk/new-thunderbirds-soundtrack-cd-coming-from-japan/ A very interesting development to be sure, but with lots of the originals available now, I'm not so sure how important it is. The stereo I suppose will get most folks going for it. They are of course VERY true to the originals. Lovely.

A very interesting development to be sure, but with lots of the originals available now, I'm not so sure how important it is. The stereo I suppose will get most folks going for it. They are of course VERY true to the originals. Lovely. The Japanese CD performed by the Tokyo Garden Orchestra has been out for a good while - I think I had my copy in 2016. There was another CD of Thunderbirds music performed by another Japanese orchestra released several years before that which I also have somewhere (I think). They're both very well done although as Paul says they're not as essential as they once might have been given that most of the original recordings have been made available. I think they still have a place though as alternative arrangements (though they're very close to the originals). I think I'll give the Silva release a go, but really only because I would like them to sell enough to justify releasing more Barry Gray music for the general record-buying public (which is their aim at the end of the day). The 7 minutes of 'new' material (whatever than means in reality) doesn't especially excite me otherwise; I mean, you can keep on buying these releases for what are really diminishing returns...

Barry Gray has always been one of my favourite composers, and having only a sparse collection before Fanderson, it is an embarassment of riches now. Incorrect: you should have written an "UNBELIEVABLE embarrassment of riches".

I don't remember the second season at all, and know nothing about that composer. How did that music compare to Gray's? Totally different experience. Barry Gray was more like epic classical music and Wadsworth was a jazz fusion type action score. I love both of them, but prefer Wadsworth's on album. It's a great listen, but on the episodes the music tends to be over the top. They both complimented the style of their respective approaches to the format.
