On the grounds that I've managed to miss this a second time, I think I'll heed fate and refuse to buy it when it's back in stock as a matter of principle. Or something.

It's clearly just not meant to be.

I may be wrong but I got the impression from an earlier post from Roger Feigelson that they are done with this title so there won't be any more copies. If I'm wrong Roger I'm sorry.

I'm out of the loop.
Did something happen with The Rocketeer score?
Reissue or something?
How's it sound, good quality?

Intrada's 2-Disc set was released and all copies were essentially bought. While Intrada said they would restock this release, some consumers noted that the sound of the 'film score presentation' was different sounding from the original album. For this 'new' version, Intrada remastered the audio so it to fit the original album standards.

So if you were hoping that this would be just a straight up re-stock of their 2-disc set, you're out of luck. It's a new version of the score for those who bought the initial release, NOT for those who missed out on the original. Even though I was one of the lucky ones who nabbed this new version when it was made available, I'll still have this nagging feeling that this release doesn't sound as good as it could since I have no frame of reference to what the original sounded like.

I tried asking what the difference is between these two releases, but no one seems to agree on just what the difference actually is so who knows at this point? It would have been nice if someone made a video or an audio sample that actually showcases what the differences are instead of trying to put it into words that no one seems to understand or agree with.

And yet the official line on the website says they are working as quickly as possible to get the title back in stock...very confusing situation indeed.

Maybe he was just referring to the mastering/mixing and not repressing? One can hope!

He was referring to revisiting the title for additional remastering. They're done tinkering with the album. The sound is what the sound is. That's a post which needs to be read in the context of the conversation that evening.

I saw THE ROCKETEER for the first time Sunday night. The one song that stood out to me was Melora Hardin's "Begin the Beguine".
If Intrada gets it back in stock, I might get it only for "Begin the Beguine".

As long as we're talking about mixing and mastering, can someone point to a place on the Intrada release where the album mix of a given cue sounds audibly different from the film mix? I've been trying to crack this nut for years.

A great example, though not the same cue, is by listening to the end title (film fix) on disc 2, immediately followed by the main title (album mix). The album mix pops into life compared to what came before. That's not to say which is "better" - but it's a good example of the mixing difference of, basically, the same piece of music.

@George Flaxman

Intrada site states:
Price: $29.99 (Temporarily out of stock)
Sorry but the most recent re-pressing of The Rocketeer is already gone. We will be working quickly as possible to get this title back in stock. We do not know how long this will be, but we will be posting updates as soon as we have more information.

So, it's NOT The Rocker-Who?, but The Rocker-When?

It's like pressing copies of Star Wars ten at a time...

I think I may have found a copy of it and ordered it, but I won't really know til it comes, or doesn't.

Fun fact I just recently learned: Melora Hardin played Jennifer for a minute in the original BACK TO THE FUTURE. Claudia Wells was originally hired but couldn't do it because of a commitment to a network pilot. Hardin came in with Eric Stoltz. When Stoltz was fired they realized they couldn't keep Hardin because she was noticeably taller than Michael J. Fox. By that time Wells was available so she was (re?)hired.

...And then fired, for asking for too much $ for BTTF2. Is that correct?

No, Wells left the sequels because her mother was sick at the time, and she wanted to spend time with her. It was a salary dispute that caused Crispin Glover to not reprise his role as George McFly (and he later sued when they used a look-alike and footage of him from the first movie without his consent).

Ahhhh, okay, thanks.
I remember reading something like that. Looks like I confused things.

Wells did return to reprise her role as Jennifer in the Telltale Games Back To The Future game.

Wells couldn't return for BTTF II because her mother was sick and was replaced by Elisabeth Shue. I think Wells was really cute.....but she didn't age gracefully.
