Or since the update specifically mentions "album" and not "score" perhaps it is finally FACE OF A FUGITIVE / BLACK PATCH. I wish. But Roger also called it "a nice companion piece"...which makes me think it's either another Hitchcock, another Tiomkin, or both. Yavar

Yavar Just do the carousel fight music from Strangers On A Train and we'll all chip in again.

It's all in the email he sent to Kickstarter backers recently (weren't you a backer? if so, check your spam filter maybe). I deleted it after reading but I'll see if I can dig it up and copy/paste his message here for you... Yavar

Maybe it's The Man Who Knew Too Much!!! That would make a GREAT "companion" release!!!!

Maybe it's The Man Who Knew Too Much!!! That would make a GREAT "companion" release!!!! That's what I thought (thanks for posting the full text, Schiffy). My only hesitation is that the Herrmann part of the score is less than a half hour. This makes me think it would be paired with something else to make the disc a reasonable length (maybe a reconstruction of the full Arthur Benjamin score for the original film, with his Cantata being the link between the two?) Maybe they're re-recording the Alfred Hitchcock attraction music from Universal Studios with a full orchestra? I'd say that was related! Both projects were made for the same purpose - entertainment!

With recording sessions coming up in about two weeks, I thought it might be a good idea to bump this thread to build anticipation. I've also come up with a theory that the "companion album" that will be recorded with Dial M may not be a full score at all, but possibly a compilation album a la Man in Half Moon Street.

Actually I gotta update you on those recording dates. William Stromberg himself, via FB: "Unfortunately, we had to move this recording session to August due to scheduling issues. I'm still recording some unknown Tiomkin Ballet music in a couple of weeks though." Who knows what THAT could be?? Yavar

Yavar I'm not on Facebook and therefore did not see that, so thank you for the update. The Tiomkin ballet music does sound intriguing, I'll say that.

THE MARCH OF TIME was also the title of a monthly series of newsreel films, shown from 1935-52, produced by Time Life. Quite popular, until interest in newsreels faded. That Tiomkin ballet music sounds enticing! Rozsa and North also wrote ballets.
