I have been listening to the concert version of "The family of the poor" from "City of Joy" the last days. Like so many of The Maestros pieces it is both sad and heavenly beautiful.
I was going the vets( not for me, before the comedians come out the woodwork) about 4.30. I put the radio on,don't do it that often( CD usually). Radio three and behold it was a medley of Once upon.. America. Good stuff.
That reminds me, does anybody know if Addie Smith still follows this forum? Anybody know how she's doing? I have sadly not heard from her for a few years now.
She's fine. We had a lovely chat with her on our zoom meeting a few weeks ago. I believe she thinks this forum is a bit too harsh which I concur with.

Thanks for posting this, Thomas. I hadn't come across the interview before.
Morricone - thanks for confirming that Addie is doing fine which is great to hear. Why am I not surprised that it was you confirming this :-)? If you speak to her again in due course please say hello to her from Tom in Scotland.
Ennio's anniversary and the other thread about Barry's 'Somewhere in Time' also reminded me of the Godfather of all Morriconians. Without Addie and Don I would never have discovered Ennio in such great detail all those years back. I seem to remember that Don was also a huge Barry fan and a had a particular soft spot for 'Somewhere in Time' (which I also love).
I have the original box set for this, issued in 2010. It was a promotional set, given to those who attended the gala concert given by the Maestro in November 2010. It is worth pointing out , however, that the DVD and CD recordings relate to Morricone's Venice Concert on 10 and 11 November 2007 - same music set as the one featuring on his Venice Concert of September 10 2007.
The box set I have contains a very luxurious 36 page booklet (on high quality paper) with numerous colour photos and text, most of which you will no doubt have seen before. I suspect this will be the same publication in the current issue.
