Did they just say ' Movie literally bristles with excitement! ' ?

One of the worst comic book adaptations ever. However the score itself is spectacular so in getting this one.

I don't know about the movie; I'm just more upset with the incorrect use of 'literally'. But that's a grammar nerd for ya!

On topic: it sounds like the wonderful Silvestri I love! I might just have to grab this.

I think this is the first time a set of alternates is actually interesting to me. A few full length cues that were actually recorded with a completely different orchestra. Now that is a useful alternate.

It's not all that different from the situation with BTTF, exclusing the fact they were recorded at different places. In both cases it's the same basic score with modifications made because the film turned out somewhat differently.

It's really less 'set of alternates' and more 'alternative score'.

But that just makes it all the better doesn't it?

I thought the "alts" in ST TMP almost counts as a second score.

One of the worst comic book adaptations ever.

Hardly - it's not even the worst comic book adaptation of 1995 (hi Batman Forever and The Phantom*).

*All right, that was more of a newspaper strip, but you get the idea.

"We Created You" questions - as it's the only track from the 1995 album which doesn't have a plus sign (so it's in the movie), does this mean that the version in the movie is a Sinfonia-performed version, or is the OST version an LA recording that got on by mistake? And why doesn't it have a "previously released" asterisk?

I wasn't that impressed when I first saw it, but have got quite fond of it over the years, & there's a very nice looking Blu-ray. Great production design (& cool robot), but the music was by far the best thing about it. The fans were up in arms because Judge Dredd too his helmet off, which he would never do in the comic (& didn't do in Dredd), but as I'd never read the comics, it never bother me.

with all this diferent-orchestra thing (or added-sweeteners in OZ), I really dont know what's exactly the NEW MUSIC some set have to offer to people who were happy with the older and shorter edition.

everything is new now!

I'm sure Michael Molcher at Rebellion, who hosts the official 2000AD podcast ("Thrillcast"), would be interested to hear about this release.

They discussed the Judge Dredd film at some length in a recent episode...

I picked this up because it's a good Silvestri score but honestly, I have longed to hear Goldsmith's kick ass trailer music in pristine audio since 1995. smile

Well yes but the discussion above was more about the necessity of disc 2 because personally I can almost always do without alternates and original albums that are included. Of course I know they are required to include the original albums in most cases so that is beside the point. Still, when I put the majority of my collection into binders I often tossed the second discs of sets like this, especially if they have zero of the full score on it.

wht I meant is that most of the sound clips are cues we already owned in the previous release (ok, revised or whatever... I am not into that thing)

I am interested in the new music, so I can judge (pun intended) if it's worth the upgrade.

I was always happy with the album, recording & performance are fantastic, & the cues are a decent length, but am looking forward to hearing the LA stuff as heard in the film. Shorter cues, & the impression I get seeing the film, is that the performance is a bit softer, but I'll know better when I hear the CD...& then there's the music that never made it to the film, & alternate versions.

I tried, and tried, and tried, to get Wikipedia to accept this here album's listing on the movie's page alongside the one for the 1995 album, but they have a dickheaded policy that song releases basically > score releases. I wish I was kidding.

"For collections of prerecorded songs, a track listing can be presented to identify the songs and their artists. The {{Track listing}} template can be used for this presentation. Track listings for film scores are generally discouraged since the score is usually composed by one person and the score's tracks are generic descriptions of scenes from the film. Noteworthy tracks from the film score can be identified and discussed in prose."

PS: I removed the '95 album listing.

Why would you do that? It's a perfectly valid release... This is why I find the concept of wikipedia flawed.
