You would think with the upcoming live action of Beauty and the Beast and the 2cd soundtrack, Disney would release a legacy edition of the original soundtrack! It's really baffling. I can't understand Disney many times. It doesn't release its biggest classics on Bluray (but some films that noone has ever heard of in the Disney Club line), and also doesn't release its most important soundtracks in expanded editions!
The Aristocats was more important than the Oscar Awarded Beauty and the Beast??

I think you missed the point : BECAUSE the new recording is going out, they will certainly not disturb the consumer with a Legacy Edition of the original recording ! Not now.
We may see further Disney expansions down the road, but the answer to "Why isn't this being released in The Legacy Collection?" is: it wasn't on the initial, complete list of Legacy Collection releases, and that series has been done for well over a year.

Well, they decided stupidly to base releases on anniversaries. Meaning some of the biggest titles were automatically excluded from the initial release schedule.
Actually while I'm thrilled we got The Lion King and The Little Mermaid from them, they screwed up some of the music elements. So I really wouldn't mind if Intrada redid those as well.

What was screwed up about them? I haven't had a chance to give them a listen. Yikes.

I don't remember the specifics of The Lion King but some ppl on here were really upset with it's release saying it sounded off. As far as The Littler Mermaid, several cues are missing music or instrumentation from various cues. (which were on the OST) It was better explained at the time of the release in various FSM threads.

Well, it's not how it works in Blurays!
When a remake is being released at cinemas, they find the opportunity to release the original film on Bluray too.
I had no problem with The Little Mermaid either. I'm no font of knowledge on either score, but they sounded great to me.
I consider the mistakes on The Little Mermaid huge gaffes. It's missing music and instrumentation heard in both the films soundtrack, and on the OST. And one track is totally messed up and repeats itself.
So the Disney Music Emporium Facebook page posted a photo of Lorelay Bove (the artist who did the artwork for the first wave of Legacy collection releases) with the caption "Hmmm...wonder what Lorelay Bove is working on..." Could it be a second volume of Legacy Collection releases??
