A repeat question for the hive mind: what time of day does La La Land put these up for sale? My recollection is 12 pm PST. You've got it. Tuesday the 1st at Noon Pacific, 3 Eastern. As much as I've loved this score, I was under the impression that there wasn't much not on the original album. Seeing people's reactions to some of the new tracks here, I'll be delighted to be proven wrong.

Also for cues like "The Secret Wedding" there were two different takes used, one on the first album, the second being the film version which was heard on the "More Music from" follow up. The only difference between the two are in Tony Hinnigan's quena solos, as the film version was more loosely performed (if that makes sense) while the first album version was more musically precise. I'm betting on the film version for the new release but I just wanted to mention it in case anyone could explain why there was such a subtle difference between them. I must admit that I can't hear any difference between those two recordings, other than that the version on the "More Music from..." album is mixed a little louder. The performances seem to be the same though. Is there a telltale moment where the difference is obvious? I'm curious if we'll get the film version of "Desolation" though. The ending of the film version has some dramatic synth strings instead of the choir. Also the opening of the film version of "Wallace Courts Murron" features a longer percussion accompaniment than on the official album (really just a minor difference), and last but not least, it seems that the extension to "Mornay's Dream" might be missing from this new release. Apart from that everything seems to be there and more! Can hardly wait for the CDs. "Wallace Moves on York", "Romantic Alliance" and the film version of "The Princess Pleads for Wallace's Life" have been on my wish list for a very long time! :-)

He told you where the difference was already, man! It's in the post you quoted!

He told you where the difference was already, man! It's in the post you quoted! Yes, the quena solos, I know. Only that there seems to be no performance difference in my recordings, only a volume difference in the mastering. OK, I gave it another try, and I can hear an actual tiny performance difference at 5:35 - 5:40 during the "More Music from..." recording. Kudos for picking it out. I never even knew it existed. Well, I'd be happy with either recording, especially since there are no compositional differences between them. With "Desolation" it would be nice to have the film version, as it's very different from the previously released recording. But if the tracklisting is correct, it'll probably be the album version again. Still a wonderful release of course.

This expansion is a bit of a Holy Grail for me, and is the score to my wife's all-time favorite movie. It also happens to be her all-time favorite score, and is definitely up there for me too. So my wife and I are both just as excited to order this.

The ending of "Mornay's Dream" in the film is tracked from the ending of "Revenge", so it makes sense that it isn't included. I'm thinking the ending of "Desolation" might be similar since it doesn't appear to be extended (maybe it's part of another cue on this expansion?) but we won't know until we get the album in our hands...or unless someone who worked on it (mxmx) can help clear the confusion? Right, I recognize the tracked ending from "Revenge". Not sure where the low synth tones that follow right after might come from though. It would be very interesting indeed to find out that those and the alternate "Desolation" may come from unused parts from other cues. Some tracks are definitely longer than in the film. Very curious about those!

And... ordered, of course it is. With Dances With Wolves and Pet Sematary (at $5 it would be rude not to). What a set. Now then, LaLa Land, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to ensure my package arrives in the UK before Christmas Day, so I can enjoy this wonderful music in the light of my Christmas Tree... Now get to it boys!
