I wonder - if he does make it to Europe in a healthy state this time - if he will try and reconnect with with the LSO in London one more time? Unlikely. The LSO last year was more a 'stopover' due to their long collaboration together, while the Vienna concerts were the real 'bucket list'. I managed to snag a 'standing' ticket this morning, but I'll probably sell it due to this bizarre situation that I also recounted over on JWFAN: "On the evening of Saturday, January 18th, I'm the on-stage host for a John Williams concert with the Lørenskog marching band. Lørenskog is a suburb to Oslo, so it sounds small, but their marching band is one of the best in all of Norway. They've often won the Norwegian championships. They're already preparing an exciting programme of familiar and unfamiliar JW pieces (some of which have never been performed live before), and I was hired several months back, with a decent and much-needed pay. There's no way I can cancel it. So I have this weird situation where a John Williams-related event is cancelling out the chance to see the actual John Williams live! I've been looking into options of flying out after the concert, or early Sunday morning, but there are absolutely no flights that would correspond. The strange matinee times of the concerts are further hindering me. It's like a higher power really wants to prevent me from going."

May I suggest a moderator put in an addendum to the thread title ("rescheduled" or whatever) so that it's not confusing or alarming when you see it?

I changed the title of the thread I managed to get a ticket (with a lot of cursing at the nonresponding website and my unresponsive cell phone) for the sunday concert. It sold out within ten minutes after the tickets went on sale for the general public.

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=2460752397520946 Robert Townson just posted a photo on Facebook, showing Williams rehearsing in the venue today. So he's in Vienna, he's healthy, and the show will go on! I'm so excited to be going to the Sunday show. I had tickets for the original concert in 2018, which was cancelled, and I was lucky to nab a ticket for this second round. I've seen Morricone live, I've seen Shore live, I've seen Elfman live, but this Sunday will definitely be the highlight of my 22 years of film score fandom [/endquote) Same story here! My wife and I are in Vienna since yesterday and Will be attending the concert Tomorrow after missing out in 2018. If I had a bucketlist this would be number one! Can’t believe I’ll be seeing the maestro perform, it’s a dream come true.

This was a truly fantastic concert. For those who are interested these pieces were played. Those marked with an * were performed by Anne-Sophie Mutter. Finding Neverland from Hook Excerpts from Close Encounters of the Third Kind Hedwig's Theme* Theme from Sabrina* Donnybrook Farm* from Far and Away Devil's Dance* from The Witches of Eastwick Adventures on Earth from E.T. The Extraterrestrial Intermission Theme from Jurassic Park Dartmoor, 1912 from War Horse Out To Sea/Shark Cage Fugue from Jaws Marion's Theme from Raiders of the Lost Ark The Rebellion is Reborn from The Last Jedi Luke and Leia from Return of the Jedi Star Wars Encores: Cinderella Liberty* The Duel* from The Adventures of Tintin Remembrances* from Schindler's List The Raiders March The Imperial March Anne-Sophie Mutter also performed on the Raiders March as part of the regular string section. With the emphasis on Williams' adaptations for solo violin and orchestra it was quite a diffeeent experience than the Hollywood Bowl concert I attended 3 years ago. But with the sublime playing of Mutter it was breathtakingly beautiful (despite a few sour notes from the brass section - something I didn't expect from the Vienna Philharmonic). If I understood someone who attended the Saturday concert correctly they recorded the concert. So hopefully there might be a DVD available at a later date. My personal highlights were the suites from CE3K and Jaws as well as the violin arrangrments of Hedwig's Theme, Devil Dance and Remembrances.

I've just heard the concert is getting a CD/DVD release from Deutsch Grammophon. I was excited to see that too. I heard they played a piece from War Horse so that will be great to hear when the CD/DVD comes out!

It was my first ever John Williams concert and I loved every minute of it. I get to see the man himself up close before the concert, as he was rushed out of his hotel into the car. Considering the cold, and his age, it was very understandable that he didn't sign any autographs or mingle with any fans outside the venue, but his energy, gracefulness and humility during the concert were quite something. The atmosphere in the hall was amazing, and unlike anything I've seen before at similar concerts. Even the security guards, who started the show off curtly stopping audience members from using their phone, were clapping and smiling and gazing towards the stage by the end of the encores. The last two encores brought the house down, as was fitting. The excerpts from CE3K were quite phenomenal, and 'Adventures on Earth' was also an excellent performance. Everything was, I guess, but for me, to finally hear/see those two conducted by Williams himself was very emotional. I'm so glad I decided to splash out and zoom up to Vienna for 36 hours to see this. It might well be his last trip to Europe, and to see him conduct in that hall, with that orchestra, was one of the best experiences of my soundtrack-collecting life so far. Can we clone him?
