Someone uploaded the albums of I'll Never Forget What's 'is Name (1967) & Hello-Goodbye (1970) onto youtube, from LPs but done quite well. They're the two Lai albums I'd like released on CD the most.
I had ordered the 7 disc set Anthology only a few days prior to the passing of Maestro Lai and it is a fitting tribute to him that I am now playing his music. Words can't express the emotion that music does so brilliantly and like all other wonderful composers that are now no longer with us, be rest assured that there legacy will live for a million generations, and we should all be blessed that we were or have been affected by there genius.
You were and still are Francis Lai still with us mortals in every note.
It is always sad to hear of a passing of a film composer, so when I heard the news, I went to my collection (which has incorporated my Father's) and did not find a single Lai soundtrack. I looked through all of the collections CD we have to find the LOVE STORY theme. Guess we overlooked him. I have heard the theme to LOVE STORY many times. I had to go and look at his filmography only to find he wrote the music to International Velvet. We have that on DVD and I will be watching this evening.
