We really don't need people feeding, whoever they may be, crackpots from Pittsburgh to Timbuktu.

Stop it, Bruce. I'm not embarrassed, but you should be. You know darn well that the posters here did NOT act offended by the "making out Seinfeld" connections. That was NOT what offended me and other posters. It was YOU saying to check the movie because of full frontal nudity, and you know that is what really offended people.

So I suggest that you quit deflecting the real issue. QUIT the excuses. Think about apologizing for the tastelessness of your nudity remark and then move on with hopefully a bit more maturity.

I honestly dont understand why BM hasn't been blocked by everyone. Guys have to stop quoting his posts. It's a great feature, will make you all much happier & you'll miss nothing of substance.

I find it hilarious that I haven't seen any of these awful posts, so clearly I blocked this troll long ago and have forgotten doing it.

Getting things back on track, my Pour Sacha and Billy Bathgate CDs arrived yesterday.

Can't wait to get my remastered CD and slice and dice together a chronological mix including those recordings, with the album versions as bonus tracks at the end.

It's really easy to make a chronological CD, there are only two tracks that need to be cut in half, and they both separate easily.

The issue then becomes do you want to put the last couple of tracks in the originally intended order, or the film order. I prefer the film order, with the piano version of the theme over the first part of the end credits, showing the gravestones.

John Mullin, I hope someday you get to watch Schindler’s List. It is a powerful, gut-wrenching movie; however, don’t “check it out,” because of “Lots of full frontal nudity,” as Mr. Marshall states. Considering the subject of Schindler’s List, that truly is the most disgusting remark I’ve read here at FSM.

We all need to be aware of the Holocaust and of, “Man’s true inhumanity to man.” It is still mind- boggling that a government could try to erase, in such an inhumane way, a whole culture. It is hard to believe such evil existed or was ever embraced or tolerated.

Yes, there was nudity as the Nazis stripped the Jews naked to shame them more and herded them like cattle, but see it because we all need to know about this horrid chapter in history and to never let it happen again.

John Williams provided an outstanding score for this subject.

Hi Joan... Thank you for this post. I actually have seen the movie, multiple times, and I think it's incredible. My initial post was only meant to evoke the famous Seinfeld episode where Jerry's friends and parents are aghast that he made out with his girlfriend during this film. The trivia with that is that Spielberg said he brought episodes of Seinfeld to Poland during the production of the film to cheer himself up throughout what was a clearly a grueling, gut-wrenching shoot. I think this was Seinfeld's way of waving back at him.

I was hoping that my referencing it would be seen as good natured and not turn ugly, as it unfortunately did almost immediately. Please accept my apology.

GoblinScore, as always, you make sense.

John, you have NO reason to apologize. We got the Seinfeld connection. That never offended me. It was the direction to you to check out the film due to frontal nudity that offended me and others. I don't think you have to apologize.

Having not listened to the score or watched the film in a few years, I'm in awe listening to the samples. What a monumental work of genius.

I am so mad at myself for not taking the time that joan and Sean did (along with others) to push back on the repulsive comments by this boards serial offender. Thank you for taking the correct stand.

Btw, so his family's ancestry gives him a pass on offensive behavior? Gee, my nephew is African American. Does that give me a green light to make jokes about lynchings?

Some wonder why he isn't blocked - I wonder why he's not banned.

Back to the beauty of the music.

This is your website Lukas. Please send a message that this kind of insensitivity was totally uncalled for. Disagreements and different opinions on film music is OK, but there is no place for clowns on this board insulting anyone's ethnicity, even if it is his own. He contributes nothing of merit here.

The CD has arrived and it is John Williams greatest score. The greatest use of the violin to convey the heartbreak of a people subjected to the ugly side of mankind when evil was allowed to run amok and one man who did what little he could to save as many lives as he could. This is music that needs to be FELT; not enjoyed.

This is one of my all time favorite scores. BTW guys, I'm not comparing the scores, but you should also check out Conti's MURDERERS AMONG US: THE SIMON WIESENTHAL STORY, it's also very moving!smile

FYI, I just found this quotation at Rogerebert.com

"What is most amazing about this film is how completely Spielberg serves his story. The movie is brilliantly acted, written, directed and seen. Individual scenes are masterpieces of art direction, cinematography, special effects, crowd control."

Today this site published its original critique of Shindler's List. It is an insightful review. At the bottom of this site is an article on John Williams as a composer for all seasons. Wonderful article on how versatile Williams' scores have been throughout decades.
