Weird presentation separating the electronic cues. Regarding the art posted maybe they accidentally posted the "comps" and not the final art? Still a great release and it shall be mine.

I made a cassette cover that combines those two images.
Free with any purchase.

The bottom one is a beauty? Really? You can clearly see where they erased the "Houston, We Have A Problem" quote from above the LEM.

-Erik-

You're right... but I had to turn the brightness on my iMac right up high to see it.

Huh! I'll be damned! I didn't see it at first, but you're absolutely right! I didn't even need to adjust the brightness on my monitor! I wonder why they felt the need to "sharpie it out"? legal reasons, perhaps?

You can clearly see where they erased the "Houston, We Have A Problem" quote from above the LEM. And just look at the title. The black behind the title is clearly darker than the rest of the poster. You can see the cutout lines.

I'm sure you won't see any of that in the printed booklet. Everybody's monitor is tuned differently, and these things can show up in those situations. On my computer right now, I don't see any of that, but I'm sure if I futzed with the contrast/brightness, I could. (But why would I?)

They usually don't include credits or ad copy.

We get an official score-only release after 24 years and THIS is what we’re talking about?

Erik Woods is..THE MAN WITH THE X-RAY EYES

In theaters this Summer!

Lol!

This proves Erik's ears is not the only super power he has has. Its those Eyes! LOL.

I think the artwork 'scan' used here is probably an early prototype. The smudge shouldn't appear in the actual print. The artwork selection is probably what the Studios wanted and approved. You cant win all the time. At least we now have the expanded set.

But you can futz with the contrast and brightness on other album covers a NOT see the edits. That's the point here.

Yes. Are we not allowed to talk about such things?

The difference in "blackness levels" will be even more obvious in print. There's actually texture on the Moon surface and even the shadow area isn't pure black. Again looking at this art, especially the edit on the Moon these have to be early comps and not the final art for print.

You didn’t include the “Cosmo...Old Friend” reference appears first in the “Dark Side” cue, not in the cue of the two of them looking out the windows at each other.

The idea is in both places, but why do that when I can leave 'spot the ripoff' to FSM?

It’s in your article, I was just pointing out that you mentioned Sneakers/Part the second time it was used and not in the original cue that introduces that theme.

I can’t believe all this negativity bitc###ing! After all of these years of all of you requesting this score. Finally released & still complaining about nothing relevant. What a bunch of SNOBS! Don’t even know why I read this forum! Nothing is ever good enough for you!

The endless negativity of this board as people bring us amazing new releases is so tiring.

I'm very happy for this release and I'll be excited to throw my CD-R of the promo in the trash. Along with its amazing black and white artwork that says "Apollo 13" in Times New Roman typed in Word nearly 20 years ago.

It's almost surreal to finally get something you've waited so long for. It was the summer after I graduated HS and just before I entered college...and had just seriously gotten into soundtrack a year or two just before this came out and it was a big part of the start of my love for Horner (along with Braveheart and Legends of the Fall). These three scores are still some of my faves. I remember at the time being annoyed at the mixing of FX & dialogue with the score...but...even if there had been a promo, I was too poor to have afforded it (and this was before the internet was readily available to even search for such a thing). Along with the recently-expanded Balto...this has made me giddy. Here's to hoping that Legends of the Fall gets the expanded treatment soon...hell...expand 'em all!

While I agree that the cover is a small annoyance (I really noticed those issues on the Mummy soundtrack but it never got mentioned in those threads - guess everyone was too busy bitchin' about the mix) but come on all....

Apollo 13 finally gets a proper release after all these years and within minutes the whole conversation gets sidetracked to discussions on the cover art.

I guess we should just be grateful that the usual suspects haven't come along with their copy/paste rants about Horner's music.

Thank you Intrada for getting this score released. I can finally delete the folder on my harddrive which currently stores the promo. Only downside is that this release just brings back the fact that Horner is no longer with us, it's just lovely that Intrada/LLL/etc will continue to remind us what great music he provided us with.

Just a shame I can't order this right away as I'm waiting for the next releases from LLL (Superman/Thin Red Line) to save on shipping. But hopefully next month.....
