... we're adults here.

Good for you.

Anyway, we can expect here some fresh, more feminine perspective. And maybe female composer?

The music for this franchise is important as an examples of high concept filmscore. I echo others who have said Davis is a must for this new film. The Matrix is one of the few Live-to-Film concerts I've attended and it was also the best.

I dont think Davis and Juno Reactor will be back. The techno heavy scores for the Matrix movies is very dated now so more likely it will be Zimmer,Balfe,or maybe Tyler.

Aw, and the Wachowskis were doing so well away from that mess. Bummer. I was dodging news of this to get to something actually interesting, like the Mandalorian.

My fervent hope would be for AT&T to recognize the synergy and release the AniMatrix score (unless WaterTower is some separate entity like Sony Music or some equally convoluted bull that no one has time for).

    ERROR 404. CONTRADICTION DETECTED.

... The Wachowski’s and Davis (among many other collaborators) had a major falling out after Revolutions. I can’t see Davis being asked to return.

    -Erik-

Not sure how I was unaware of this after so many years! What happened? Were any details reported about what the falling out was over?

Seconded. I never heard the story behind this. Why did they have a falling out?

And it’s going to be Giacchino which is fine.

Davis mentioned in an article that the Wachowski's basically outgrew Davis and many of the main behind the scenes talent that worked on the Matrix hence why they went for Giacchino on Speed Racer, dumped cinematographer Bill Pope, and dumped editor Zach Staenberg after Speed Racer. Seems like they were taking the faliures of their films out on their frequent collaborators, IMO.

Sorry that I don't have any juicy gosipp to share but that's what Davis had to say about the situation earlier this year.

Gossip not needed. Thanks for clarifying all the same.

Davis’ work on the original trilogy was something rare and a unique example of minimalist composition in a mainstream Hollywood blockbuster.

While I’d much rather see him return to this than Giacchino, his strongest scores were what he did with the Wachowski’s.

Ugh I hope they don't hire Giacchino. I mean I like Giacchino's Star Trek scores...but he's the wrong person for something like The Matrix. Don Davis (and Juno Reactor) are the only people who can pull this score off...

    Well, that's disappointing.

Davis did do some demos for "Speed Racer", so it's not like they totally dumped him.

There's only one composer for Matrix movies, surely it's like their musical DNA.

Matrix never interested me it was much like a computer game too much artistry in motion - story lines were thin to begin with even more lacklustre watching poor CGI.

Fair-play too Davis sticking it out with these scores, i'm not a fan of them but i'll be glad too see him back doing this or some-think outside Matrix.

What IS there left to explore if any?

The Wachowski's watched THE FORCE AWAKENS and said, "Hey, we can do that!"

Is it just the more modern minimalist John Adams elements you dislike? There are plenty of points (more as the series progressives, and particularly in the final score) that are more traditional and up your alley, I would think...

I wish that had been kept in the film!

Gorgeous sweeping emotional theme starts just a little over two minutes in.

Too be honest, i can't remember the movies that well after the original because I never wanted 2nd viewings. I listened too Reloaded clip, its cool pretty crisp i'll look into that one - Revolutions vid wasn't available but I will give it a go, maybe these adequate movies tipped my judgement. Cheers Yavar!

What IS there left to explore if any?

For example, development of Mind uploading and digital immortality theories. It could be interesting and something new for modern hollywood movies. Eventually, Wachowski's must explain the return of Neo and Trinity and I think this theories can help them.

I mean, their bodys left in Zero-One City and machines could made some experiments on them. I've thought about this a lot and my theories is too musch crazy, but however some of this was represent in Matrix Online, if memory serves.

So they could use some ideas from their own game, cause I think there is not so much people who remmember this game and even fewer of those who remmember the plot of it. I apologize to all fans of this game, just in case smile
