Enormously excited by this! The film is a masterpiece. I agree completely with Ebert, who named it best film of 2002. In the years since, I haven't gone more than a month without something being compared to it in some media article, the film really was as seminal as Blade Runner in its complete vision of the tactile environment of a future.

The score is gorgeous, one of Williams's best of the 00s, it combines romantic lyricism, suspense, and even bits of comedy.

I always found the original album thoroughly frustrating, because it's so rearranged. I did my best to slice and dice a chronological version, but it's difficult, because multiple cues are joined, and some really can't be separated, they merge into each other and don't sound good when they're severed.

I cannot imagine this will be like Schindler's List, where the original album had to be respected, or CE3K, I really hope we get a complete chronological version of this score at last!!!

By the way, if anyone wants to buy the exact recordings of the classical pieces used at great length in the film as Tom Cruise "scrubs" the images from the Precogs, you'll need these CDs:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000001GHU/

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000001GXE/

As for the recording of "Moon River" heard in the mall, the first half is the actual opening cue from the film:

http://store.intrada.com/s.nl/it.A/id.8320/.f

The second half is from this 1980s Mancini album:

Yes, I was so obsessed with this brilliant film that I called Fox Music back in 2002 and they politely checked the actual paperwork for the film and confirmed this. smile

The OST is probably one of my least listened to Williams CDs so I should maybe revisit it, haven't heard it in a long time. Unfortunately I never liked the movie either.

You can make a solid 30 minute presentation out of the score, for sure.

Sean's Theme
Pre-Crime To The Rescue
Everybody Runs!
Anderton's Great Escape
Spyders
A New Beginning OR the Minority Report end title (which has A New Beginning in its actual, un-looped performance - thanks JLB, a nutcase - but it's buried at the end of the cue)

That's about it for the highlights (for me). Score works well in the film, but a lot of the second half of the album really does nothing for me.

My thirty minutes is ' better' than your 30 minutes!
smile

I looked at yours before I did that and disagree! You left off Everybody Runs! Oh, you know what, maybe the "good" part of that cue will be separate now on the new LLL version, as the second half of that track is a separate cue from earlier in the film.

smile

Be fair. I did include an ' alternate' program wit EVERBODY RUNS.

Several cues in Raiders and Temple of Doom play back at the wrong pitch. There's still a lot of score unreleased from movies 2-4.

In the end, the complete score presentation has a much stronger narrative and tells a much more complete story than the jumbled up OST presentation JW put together.

Concur! I've lived with the poor man's chrono order (below) since the beginning because I needed–NEEDED that Anne Lively motif up top. Now I've grown so used to/fond of this listening experience, I'm curious if my time-tempered ear will accept the new release.

2 - Can You See?
3 - Pre-Crime To The Rescue
4 - Sean And Lara
8 - Everybody Runs!
10 - Anderton's Great Escape
6 - Greenhouse Effect
11 - Dr. Eddie And Miss Van Eych
5 - Spyders
7 - Eye-Dentiscan
12 - Visions Of Anne Lively
13 - Leo Crow…The Confrontation
14 - "Sean" By Agatha
15 - Psychic Truth And Finale
16 - A New Beginning
9 - Sean's Theme
1 - Minority Report

They desperately need the TLC of a certain Michael. Same goes for Star Wars.

In any case, it's great that Minority Report is getting the triple L treatment.
