It was a fun adventure trying to find the tapes for this score. It was a journey, but I did find them a few years ago when Cary and Bryon and I were working on it prior to Concord's involvement. Glad to be mentioned in the Special Thanks as this is one of my favorite Elfman scores and the movie is SO dang good.

Ordered. I'm glad to see this early Danny Elfman score see a full release. The original 1995 Varese commercial release only had 9 cues and ran 30:02. For you fellow Danny Elfman completists, young Danny hand-made one-at-a-time his "Composers Personal Edition" promo complete with humorous pseudo-Varese-lookalike jewel case inserts on "DEAD HUSBAND RECORDS" with 18 cues and a running time of 63:34 on a gold TDK CDR. Only a very few copies were made, mostly for industry or personal use. Exactly how many were made, I'm not surethat anyone knows except Danny. Maybe 20-30? In the recent past, I was approached privately by someone on this list with a copy...with a hefty four-figure price tag. Since I already had a copy, I'm glad I didn't have to deal with that temptation. This new release may give that oddball collectible some well-deserved competition. Ron Burbella

So, Danny Elfman wrote an 80 MINUTE symphony on loss, regret, pent-up anger and despair...and could only give us 30 MINUTES from that symphony, back in 1995 (virtually an excerpts album). It's a heavy listen, undoubtedly, and a real mood killer (if you're feeling chipper), but it's so raw and tragic, it's hard to pull away and escape from the sound world that Elfman creates for the excellent film. The years following SOMMERSBY, when you had no clue what his next score was gonna sound like, were great times indeed.
