Could anyone who is familiar with La-La Land's release of Jerry Goldsmith's Magic and with Varese's previous release of the score please offer their opinions on whether it is worth upgrading? I have the Varese release and am curious as to whether the sound on the La-La Land release is improved with the revised master. Other than getting the additional ~30 second cue, is it worth upgrading if you're a fan of the score? I tried searching for any discussion on this in past threads but had no luck finding much of anything. I'm looking to get a handful of things during the current sale and am debating including this.
The revised master has been polished, removing some beautiful texture from the instruments.
It's the same with other "revised" masters, like The Egyptian.
A revised master can't be better than its source, unless you like the Matessino touch.
Do you have proof that the instruments lack preciseness that is interesting remarks i don't think there's been one complaint of weakness, i haven't got LLL coz Varese is 48 secs less, but i will look over the sound comparison what term is engineered for materials i have the FSM & Varese 90 cd both buff, (i'm not sure) remastered, mastered, revised master polished.

When you polish something, you remove some "grain", the very edge of the thing you polish.
It's not necessarily a big difference, and most people won't hear it.
Personally, I won't buy anymore "revised" masters, I have wasted too much money: none of them are, and can be, better than the original master, since they are sourced from it.
I am in the minority here, but I almost always prefer the older CD masters to the new ones which sound more and more artificial.

I have an order in mind but I'm waiting to see whether there will be an April flyer of new releases before I place my order. (Then I can potentially incorporate one or more new releases into my order. )

I placed a very small order hours after it went live.
I'm fully cognizant of the situation and had absolutely no problem waiting a month if need be for my order to ship. I was just happy to be able to get titles that I wanted at a nice discount. Especially appreciated now as I'm going to need to start pinching pennies.
Needless to say I was surprised to get a ship notice this afternoon.
I wish I were in a position to place another order, but I think those funds would be better off saved for the eventual release of the third QM set and something else down the line.
At the very least I hope those future releases will still be a realistic potentiality in another six weeks.
