1. MacArthur - love the main theme and one I've been wanting for awhile 2. Black Patch - a milestone being Jerry's first score 3. The Public Eye - interested to hear this as my favorite period of his scoring is the 90s & 2000s I can't really say anything as to the other scores because I have not heard most of them, although I'm always happy to hear of a Goldsmith new release from any of our beloved labels! I'd buy them all!

You should check out some of the links I provided in the original post -- in many cases on The Goldsmith Odyssey for example we played complete scores! Lots of Goldsmith gems to discover. Shall I do a tally at this point? Anyone else want to weigh in or add to their current picks? (Remember, up to 10 are allowed!) Yavar

You're welcome. I'll also point out that for more than a year, we have also been providing cue lists on the page for each episode, so if you want to skip through our chatter just to the music, there's a guide there (after the first year of shows). Yavar

What a fantastic list, Pangolino! Thanks! Just a note about The Waltons: Jerry's involvement with the series proper was all in 1973. 1971 (late in the year) was the date of his work on the original TV movie, The Homecoming, which introduced the characters before it became a TV series over a year later. This score *does* survive and has been released complete by FSM (still in print too)! But it pre-dates the creation of his iconic Waltons theme, so it lacks that or any other thematic connection with the series scoring, which is why I still list "The Waltons" in this poll on Goldsmith premieres people want: https://filmscoremonthly.com/cds/detail.cfm/CDID/467/Homecoming-A-Christmas-Story-Rascals-and-Robbers-The/ Yavar

I'd been hoping that more people might participate in this poll, which is why I tallied the Varese expansion poll (twice!) before getting around to this one (https://filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?threadID=140019&forumID=1&archive=0&pageID=3&r=705#bottom) But I didn't want to forget this poll entirely, so here's the initial tally work for those interested, and maybe bumping this thread will prompt some other people to participate now: Black Patch (1957) 6+ 8+ 6+ 10+ 10+ 4+ 4+ 10+ 6+ 9+ 2+ The Sergeant and the Lady (unsold pilot episode) (1958) NO VOTES AS YET World in White (unsold pilot) (1959) NO VOTES AS YET Face of a Fugitive (1959) 7+ 7+ 9+ 9+ 9+ 3+ 3+ 9+ 9+ General Electric Theater (at least eight episodes?) (1959-1962) 8+ 9+ 9+ The Gambler, the Nun, and the Radio (1960) NO VOTES AS YET (If you know anything about this thing please tell me!) Have Gun - Will Travel (two episodes) (1960) 5+ Thriller (sixteen episodes) (1960-1962) 10+ 5+ 7+ 10+ Gunsmoke (six episodes) (1960-1966) 7+ 1+ The Expendables (unsold pilot?) (1961) NO VOTES AS YET (If you know anything more about this thing please tell me!) Tomorrow's Newspaper (unsold pilot: "All Day to Live") (1961) NO VOTES AS YET Rawhide (one episode: "Incident in the Middle of Nowhere") (1961) NO VOTES AS YET Wagon Train (two episodes) (1961-1962) 7+ 87th Precinct (one episode: "Step Forward") (1962) NO VOTES AS YET Kraft Mystery Theater (one episode: "Shadow of a Man") (1963) 8+ Chrysler Theater (pilot: "A Killing at Sundial") (1963) 10+ Ben Casey (one episode: "Eulogy in Four Flats") (1963) 6+ Breaking Point (two episodes) (1964) 5+ Destry (three episodes) (1964) NO VOTES AS YET The General with the Cockeyed Id (short film) (1964) NO VOTES AS YET The Legend of Jesse James (one episode: "Things Don't Just Happen") (1961) NO VOTES AS YET Hour of the Gun (1967) 1+ CBS Playhouse ("The People Next Door") (1968) NO VOTES AS YET Prudence and the Chief (unsold pilot) (1970) NO VOTES AS YET Bracken's World (one episode: "A Score Without Strings") (1970) 7+ Do Not Fold, Spindle, or Mutilate (1971) 2+ 5+ 6+ Lights Out (unsold pilot episode: "When Widows Weep") (1972) 3+ Crawlspace (1972) 10+ 4+ 4+ 3+ The Last Run (1972) NO VOTES AS YET The Man (1972) 10+ 10+ 3+ 10+ Pursuit (1972) 5+ 10+ 8+ 9+ 8+ Shamus (1973) 9+ 9+ 7+ 10+ 7+ 10+ 7+ The Waltons (at least six episodes) (1973) 10+ 8+ 10+ 6+ 4+ The Don Is Dead (1973) 8+ 10+ 6+ 8+ 9+ Indict and Convict (1974) 6+ 2+ The Best of Times (unsold pilot) (1974) NO VOTES AS YET MacArthur (1977) 10+ 6+ 9+ 10+ The Salamander (1981) 10+ 2+ Dusty (unsold pilot?) (1983) NO VOTES AS YET (If you know anything more about this thing please tell me!) Brotherhood of the Gun (aka Hollister) (theme only) 9+ The Public Eye (1992) (unused score) 8+ 10+ 7+ 9+ 8+ 8+ 5+ 8+ 8+ (Nobody voted for Jerry's theme-only contribution to Black Saddle, Hollywood Television Theater, or H.E.L.P... his themes for all three were excellent so I don't think this reflects badly on them, but only reflects that Jerry's contribution was a minute and a half or less, and there are other higher priorities.) Finally, my friend W. David Lichty added a new option which I consider valid, since it is for already recorded but unreleased cues living in the archives: "The Jerry Goldsmith CBS Library Music - all of it, whole and clear, well sorted, too." (I'll tally 10 for that as his top pick, until such time as other people join him.) Now technically a small handful of Jerry's "wild" library cues were indeed commercially released by Prometheus on the Early Years Volume One CD. But this huge collection of stuff isn't a single score on its own, so I don't really count that as disqualifying the (probably hours of) material Jerry wrote and recorded for the CBS music library, but which still hasn't seen the light of day outside of a handful of fragments on Twilight Zone isolated score tracks and scratchy TransWorld 78 discs. I presume David would also want included any cues composed by Jerry for programs like Playhouse 90, where they were performed live on set, but later newly recorded for the CBS Music Library (which is how we got some Playhouse 90 cues on that same Prometheus album, though they were not the original film performances). Finally, I want to note that I had to invalidate a couple of votes for Anna and the King (David and Pangolino -- if you want to pick something else in its place let me know); as I mentioned in my original post, it, S*P*Y*S, and A Tree Grows in Brooklyn are ruled out because of their inclusion (even if just 15-20 minutes) in the Varese Fox Box. They are at least partially released, and therefore can't possibly qualify as pure premieres. That said I do share a desire for Jerry's complete work for the series to be released, and frankly I can say from experience of watching them in German that the work by other composers for the series was also very fine (certainly worthy of filling out a 1 or 2 disc release for the series). Yavar P.S. Graham, are you gonna vote yet?

Oh good grief. I forgot to count my OWN top 10! Sheesh. Thanks for adding things up, David. (You forgot to include your improvised #1 pick, but I'll add it.) Would you like to pick a new #10 pick, since I moved everything on your list below Anna and the King up one, due to its ineligibility (16 minutes released by Varese in the Fox Box)? Yavar

I mean yeah, it's that to some degree I'm sure...but also, for my money Black Patch has a greater A+ Goldsmith main theme at its core, than any of the other eligible completely unreleased Goldsmith scores. So even if it weren't his first score I think it's entirely possible it might be leading. The theme is just *that* memorable and moving, even if I do think Face of a Fugitive might be the more consistently musically engaging western score, with multiple strong (but not quite A+) themes and Goldsmith writing in a fairly unique (for him) Golden Age style... The Don Is Dead (1973) This film was released last week in Germany on Bluray. Picture quality is outstanding and is in English with removable English sub-titles .

I think it was also released on Blu-ray in France a few years ago. Hopefully a Region 1 edition shows up! So is that your sole vote for what Goldsmith premiere you want next on album? You can vote for up to 10 things, if you want. Does anyone else want to participate in this poll, or should I finalize the results? Yavar

To be honest, I have a lot of Goldsmith albums, not all, but quite a few and feel I have enough. Nothing that remains unreleased screams out at me as a must have. Over the last two decades we've been fortunate to have fine releases of much of Goldsmith's work, including his very best, so, at this point, I'm satisfied with what we have. More than enough for me to listen to and enjoy.

To be honest, I have a lot of Goldsmith albums, not all, but quite a few and feel I have enough. Thank you for your honesty. Nothing that remains unreleased screams out at me as a must have. Not even his first feature film score (in a genre he excelled at, no less)? I'm surprised. May I call your attention to this fun 5-minute PSA if you haven't listened yet? http://goldsmithodyssey.buzzsprout.com/159614/813340-vote-goldsmith-for-kickstarter Over the last two decades we've been fortunate to have fine releases of much of Goldsmith's work, including his very best, so, at this point, I'm satisfied with what we have. More than enough for me to listen to and enjoy. I think that could be said in general about film music as a whole, though. There have been SO many releases and many of the greatest film scores have received definitive editions. So since there are "more than enough to listen to an enjoy" is there really so little point in discussing ones we like that haven't been released? Anyhow, it looks like interest in this thread in waning, so I'll do a final tally later today. If anyone still wants to weigh in with 1-10 favorite unreleased Goldsmith scores, please do so in the next 4-5 hours or so... Yavar
