Original sounds fine - I happen to to be all for dynamic range and no compression.
However, this particular soundtrack has a bit of extra Shawn Murphy bass. I typically love his mixes but it’s a bit bloated and the bass is a too much at times and doesn’t play nicely with my Thiel 3.6s, despite extensive bass traps in my room.
Likely a creative decision which will remain unchanged. Won’t complain if the sonics are improved though. Either way, can’t wait.
Yeah, one of the more curious Murphy mixes, like a preview of his weirdly bad early 21st century.
Picked this up along with a sale copy of "The Pagemaster"!
Also to the folks at La-La - the link for "Casper" under the headlines section goes to a "404 Error - Page not found" when you click it. Just wanted you guys to know!
Just wanted to pass along kudos to the great customer service at LLL - computer (user?) errors caused a multiple order mess and Matt got me all squared away with what I needed.
Will be the proud recipient of Casper, The Pagemaster and Searching for Bobby Fischer.
One of the first CDs I ever received was the original soundtrack for this movie. As full as that album was, the cue 'The Doctor is In' is selling me on the new release. Just delightful.
I'm happy to support La La Land and the continued release of Horner remasters. I never got around to buying albums of things that had been released before I started collecting so I have very few originals.
While I've never been the biggest fan of Brad Silberling's films, I can't deny that they generally tend to have excellent scores. I'm still waiting for some label to release the full version of Thomas Newman's Lemony Snicket work.
Ive been seriously procrastinating on recent releases and the way the first print runs are selling out (The River/ Legends of the Fall) I can't risk letting this one slip by. I'll be ordering asap!
Quoting myself I procrastinated on getting this after all, but luckily nabbed it with a recent restock. Not one of my favorite Horner scores. It's rather goofy and very Danny Eflman like. But I'm glad I picked it up. Its growing on me. Its a nice breezy light hearted score, fun to listen to during a pandemic. I also picked up The River but missed out on Legends of the Fall.
This is a great score with some killer themes! Wonderful stuff. Horner was on fire in 1995 (well with exception of Jade….but everyone is entitled a mad moment!).
I'd love it if it and Bram Stoker's Dracula came back in stock at the same time so I could save on shipping. I missed both of their first pressings.
check moviemusic.com, shipping is only $1 and you can set up notifications if what you want is out of stock. They had Wrath of Khan last year when La La was still waiting for a replenishment after their 1st batch flew out the door

They have a great selection and Casper is in stock there, thanks!
