My rarest score is probably my 2-disc FYC CD set of PATRIOTS DAY, by Reznor and Ross.
It contains the complete score and was only sent to certain Golden Globe voters.
Other guild members only got a 1-disc version, which contains the commercial album, which was otherwise never released on CD.
And since the score was never nominated for any awards, the circulation of even that 1-disc FYC was pretty limited too.

I have original Label X Lps and CDs of Body Heat and Dragonslayer--all 4 numbered. The LPs are 45rpm! and the Body Heat was extremely hard to get and much in demand prior to the FSM release.
Also have original promo LPs of Images and Robin and Marian and some old odd thing on LP coupling Coogan's Bluff and General With the Cockeyed Id.
IMAGES, ROBIN AND MARIAN, and the COOGAN/COCKEYED ID were all 1970s plain-label bootlegs, so they don't count in the realm of authorized, collectible rarities. The Label X releases were legitimate, though; I also own and kept their LP and CD of BODY HEAT. That LP (of a score I had craved) only appeared a full two years after the film's premiere; the audiophile 45rpm recording was priced at $29.95 -- maybe triple the typical price of LPs in 1983 -- but was recalled almost immediately. I have no idea how many other fortunate collectors got to snatch up that BODY HEAT album as I did, but private dealers asked astronomical prices for years before the 2,000-copy CD appeared.
About 15 years ago on eBay, I got an Oscars promo of MULAN for a price I was willing to spend (which has helped me pass the time until either Disney or Intrada releases it complete). While I personally have never seen another copy of that promo for sale, I expect more of them were mailed to Academy voters than many limited-release CDs are pressed for this community. (EDIT: Maybe I just never saw the MULAN Oscars promo again because I didn't search further after I picked one up. There's one on eBay right now from Japan -- sky-high -- and another sold just last month.)
And no, Goldsmith's LP of RANSOM/TERRORISTS never got a U.S. release (the film barely did, itself), so that imports of that British vinyl was our only chance Stateside. As for LIONHEART, my feeling was that many fewer copies of Vol. 2 were actually issued because sales of Vol. 1 had been so disappointing. Townson and Varese must hardly have expected that the film would get even less American distribution than THE TERRORISTS had managed!

Mr Townson is still very much with us, but not with Varese.
Maybe he means he's always late to dinner and parties.
Sorry for that. When I got it on ebay there was an explanation of its origin which I thought I'd saved a copy of, but I can't seem to find it now. Robert was a name that was at the back of my head as was Tom Null. You'll probably tell me now that he's still with us. I'll fall back on the old man defence.

Varese cd issue of "The Serpent and the Rainbow" gotta be pretty rare. Wasn't it pulled quickly after release?
You're definitely right about that. About 300 to 400 copies are out there and remember it was featured in the now OOP Little Shop of Horrors Varese box from a few years ago so that makes it rare again

Transporter 2 - Alexandre Ariza (the score album that was immediately withdrawn for reasons unknown a real pressed CD not the CDR that's floating around)
