Enjoyed the suite of IF on the Mike Figgis compilation album, definitely will be buying that one along with Somewhere in Time

Ref: Somewhere In Time.

The original 1980 album was excellent but was of course only 30 minutes including the Rachmaninoff, and included different versions of some tracks to the film.

The Varese Sarabande album was also excellent, all faithful to the film versions and recorded most of the score.

The value of this is it is (I presume, surely must be) the *PREMIERE* release of the full film tracks.

Plus, remember there could be alternates. Varese's version of 'Coin' is clearly not the version in the film, something I always noticed, so maybe the track in the film was a revision.

Plus, there is a lot of source music in the film, like the jazz music in the car. Remember, when Reeve's character takes off in the car at the start of the film.

I don't know the details any more than any of you, but I wouldn't be surprised if this CD surprises us more than we expect to be surprised.

Cheers

And the wait for The Adventures Of Batman & Robin continues...

Even with MV's recent "we hope later this year" comment, I still wouldn't bank on seeing it come out before September/October, but that's just pure guesswork on my part!

I live in hope that it will arrive soon. Maybe as Black Friday title together with 'The Omen' trilogy set as part of the Goldsmith at 20 Century Fox, both of these would be great!!

I have the Debney Somewhere in Time, and now I'm glad I never bought the OST. So this won't be a triple dip for me.

It won't even be a double dip since, ya know, the Debney isn't the same recording.

I'm also hoping for Adventures of Batman and Robin on Black Friday. It's a juicy title worthy of the date.

You know, if I recall correctly, MV said that he considers BTAS Vol. 1 to be a 2008 Black Friday title. So there is a precedent for this treatment where the animated Bat is concerned.

Re: "Somewhere In Time"...

I thank you Stephen; for your optimism! I sincerely hope you are correct – because – with so many – “surprises” – in store for us… I do believe this should be a #2 CD Set?

An example of what I am talking about… could be the recent release of “E.T. The Extra Terrestrial” –
As you probably know – most of that score was re-recorded for the album presentation; and thanks to Mike Matessino – we got the album presentation – REMASTERED – on the second disc with all the alternates etc...

Having said that – I would like to have the – “album tracks” – for “Somewhere In Time” – remastered as well?

Unfortunately;
I don’t believe that –
THE FILM SCORE CUES…
THE SOURCE SUES…
…and…
THE ORIGINAL ALBUM RELEASE…
...can all fit on THE ONE CD (??)

I could be wrong… as the Album Track titled: “The Journey Back In Time” –
…is that the film version?

If it is… then maybe there are only a few tracks that were specifically recorded for the album… such as that gorgeous ending – which is titled: “Theme From Somewhere In Time” – (and the opening of course)…

So maybe – it can all fit on one CD; but we might have to – “program” – the CD – (or our playlists) – for the album presentation.

I am still very excited about this release; and I don’t believe anything will top it this year!

LLL's monthly flyers always indicate the number of CDs that each release has. This flyer has no such indications, meaning all 4 titles are 1CD releases.

Here is every flyer they've released in the past year and a half so you can see what I mean:

Young Justice: Outsiders was a 2-CD set and the August 2020 flyer didn't indicate that.

Young Justice: Outsiders was a 2-CD set and the August 2020 flyer didn't indicate that.

I think the point is they try to indicate multidisc sets, and the default means single-disc. Possibly a typo made that release an exception to the rule.

I might be behind with the news, but I think last year La-La Land Records had a new series with recordings from the 60s and 70s. I remember nice releases by Michel Colombier & Ennio Morricone. Is this still going on?

I think you're thinking of the Universal Heritage / Universal Classics Collection.

If so, they've released 13 titles since the line was announced 3 years ago, or about 1 per quarter

(just noticed Munster, Go Home isn't listed on that page)

The YJ was a mistake, everyone. We tend to always list the amount of discs on our flyer

Oh, we're just so awful -- we're even complaining about accidental flyer leave-outs.

Oh, we're just so awful -- we're even complaining about accidental flyer leave-outs.

Noone's complaining (and I know you were joking about that), but to sum up: Some folks wanted to know if "Somewhere in Time" would be 1 or 2 cds. Someone said it was 1-disc, as indicated in the flyer as usual. Someone else pointed out the flyer didn't always indicate number of discs. However, that was because of a typo, not policy. Bottom line, unless there's a mistake in the flyer, this release will be 1 disc.

I know you're kidding but still, I apologise if I annoyed anyone by pointing out the mistake on the August 2020 flyer. I was trying to make a point, but I didn't need to be a gosh-darn-know-it-all about it! smile
