Ordered the CD after hearing the exquisite samples through high end headphones. The CD's engineering made the orchestra sound so life-like. Knowing the soundtrack is all instrumental I hope anyone reading this doesn't mind my interrupting this thread to mention Somewhere In Time's song lyrics. On YouTube there are 2 versions available. One is written by Barry himself. And the other (notably preferable to myself) is sung by Michael Crawford. In my opinion the lyrics to this particular one inspirited the essence of the movie. And Crawford's stage work experience presents a heartfelt interpretation. Just wish there were Barry orchestra strings instead of synthesizer. This song is from 'EFX' (show) featuring Crawford. Wikipedia info.: “Composer John Barry's theme from the film Somewhere in Time was also used as pre-show music during the show's original 1995 run. Barry, who had worked with Michael Crawford before on previous projects such as the West End musical Billy and the British movie musical of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, gave Crawford permission to add vocals to the Somewhere in Time theme. Lyrics were provided by B.A. Robertson.”

I've never read how Barry and Seymour met. I've come up with three possibilities. 1) They met at the premiere of Live and Let Die. Though JB didn't score the film, he may have attended anyway. I know that he attended the U. S. premiere of either The Spy Who Loved or For Your Eyes Only (I heard this from a local movie critic who attended the event). 2) From 71 to 75 Seymour was married to Michael Attenborough, son of Richard, who produced Seance on a Wet Afternoon and was Bryan Forbes creative partner back then. 3) Given JB's reputation with the ladies, Jane Seymour was young, beautiful, and talented, and John Barry was, well, John Barry, and in the late sixties/early seventies they were living in the same city.

Within the Moviola program (which aired 1993 in the U.S.) Seymour states that she had long loved film scores, so I expect she was a fan of Barry's music well before she entered the movie industry -- or met Barry personally.

Too bad the YouTube upload is cut. I didn't click the link to view it because I recorded the program off PBS all those years ago. It's also too bad that hour never got a homevideo release, since it would be a must for all Barry fans. The music performances were newly recorded, but perhaps the different film clips made a licensing challenge.
