I suppose the most exciting part would be the huge improvement over the sound quality. The Varese edition was not exactly up to the desired level even for its time. Plus you are likely getting the original film tracks and maybe a few alternates. It’s a win win situation.
According toTim Burden on Facebook the album artwork/ orchestra list indicates both film tracks and album tracks.
This is the only movie that John Williams has scored for Clint Eastwood. He was suggested by the studio and producers Richard D. Zanuck and David Brown, after Jaws (1975), and because Williams knew that Eastwood was a huge fan of jazz. He did incorporate that style into his score, which also featured a classical, more traditional orchestral sound.
A great score.. I own the LP..saw the movie a couple of months ago..and lots of cues are missing..especially during the whole climb. So I will get this one.
The greatest feat - more challenging than climbing the Eiger itself - will be getting this baby through San Francisco Airport in less than 6 weeks (as Eastwood would say, I appear to be s*** out of luck with my Extreme Prejudice order!)
