This new collection sounds intriguing. It gives me hope that we may now get certain things in this set that I have personally been hoping to get released to album.

First, a remastered and expanded "Yesterday's Enterprise" from Star Trek The Next Generation. Let's face it, the GNP album is classic and happily on my shelf along with "Hollow Pursuits" and "Unification." But I would wish for "Yesterday" to get a dusting-off (James Nelson, you there?) along with the previously unreleased cues. It's an iconic episode with a beautiful "dream-like" tragedy to it that would sound great with crystallized sound quality we can get nowadays.

Okay, and my personal wish also is for "11:59" from Star Trek: Voyager. I believe this is considered one of Voyager's "worst" episode. But I completely beg to differ; I think it's a little gem featuring a wistful look on a past merging into an unknown future, and the music is equally wistful and thoughtfully composed by David Bell.

Can't wait to see what this one will look and sounds like!

-Rick O.

I think it was mentioned several years ago on this board that GNP wasn't going to license any other Trek music that they initially released on album, so we'll never see remastered and expanded versions of scores such as "Yesterday's Enterprise". Nothing that LLL can do about this, it's under the GNP license.

Also, keep in mind that this set was built with "fan requests" in mind which had been posted to this FSM thread, so you can bet that episodes and cues mentioned here were considered for inclusion:

I don't object to GNP holding onto their licence IF they put some effort into re-issuing/improving the titles themselves. Their remastered editions of Encounter at Farpoint and The Best of Both Worlds were fantastic. Their volumes 3 and 4 sound pretty grim by today's standards. They really should re-master/expand on stuff like Yesterday's Enterprise and Tin Man...

Their expanded/remastered Best of Both Worlds sold well enough for expanded/remastered Encounter at Farpoint (with the brilliant addition of The Arsenal of Freedom, complete) to happen. But apparently Encounter at Farpoint had disappointing sales so they decided it wasn't worthwhile to consider revisiting the rest of their Trek releases. A shame as I'd have liked to get more of Yesterday's Enterprise too, to say nothing of complete/remastered editions of the DS9 and Voyager pilot scores.

They sounded pretty grim to begin with. Now that we've heard how great music from those shows has the potential to sound, I can't help wondering what the hell was going on when they produced those discs.

I wouldnt mind remastering of the scores to the pilots of DS9 and Voyager. And for that matter the two “Best Of Star Trek” volumes that GNP also put out. That Suite from Way of the Warrior could use some definite remastering.

I did not expect that Bell's music will work so well in the retro Video Game style. Really good.

It's been an honor releasing all these Trek titles for the past decade but like the old saying goes All Good Things Must Come to An End.

After doing 3 movies (TMP twice) TOS box set, 2 sets of TNG, 2 sets of DS9, 2 sets of Voyager, 2 sets of Enterprise PLUS that 50th Anniversary Collection of Various Trek Music, including The Animated Series, we look at this collection of never before released music as our swan song for the Trek Universe. One last Trek, so to speak.

See you on Tuesday

MV

You guys have really helped fulfill life long dreams with these releases. The TOS box set is the single most important score release in my library. Classic Star Trek got me interested in film and TV music and having all of those scores, every last note, was an accomplishment i never would have thought possible and one that, for me, will never be topped. We all talk about "our Holy Grails" but that was mine. The one impossible dream, the release I wanted more than any other. It's hard to believe it's been 10 years.

Thank you!

Agree. Feel very similar. Loved the music and was a holy grail never thought I see. That and a couple of Bond and Goldsmith scores got me interested in film scores.

TOS, TMP, TWOK and TSFS have been the definitive releases of those titles. You have consistently outdone yourselves with your Star Trek releases, so I'll add my voice to the chorus of gratitude.

Thank you.

Ha! I had no idea that someone transposed and performed Bell's music into this video game format, that is kind of hilarious!

Thats kinda good smile

I'm happy that we get so much David Bell music. And Voyager... Music from "One", "Eye Of The Needle", "Infinite Regress"... awesome stuff.

And then Enterprise... I mean... "Silent Enemy", "Minefield", "Home", "Anomaly" and finally the one and only "Azati Prime". Good job on those ones LLL.

BUT I noticed some strange stuff on the ENT disc: Hijackers / No Choice from "Damage" was already released on the Vol. 2 of Enterprise also was Into The Chamber from "The Council". Why? This is 9 minutes of wasted space that could've been new unreleased music.
