Even in 2023, Zimmer's score released for Xavier Dolan's TV series The Night Logan Woke Up, which has not even shown in the US. Talk about a smaller release. Good score, too.

So did anyone actually see this crapper?

Any music in it other than blasting snippets of 70's memory berries?

"Crapper"?

It's based on an iconic book, and the film has received critical acclaim. Alas, it hasn't premiered yet over here, but I'm looking forward to seeing it. I love coming-of-age films.

Well I'm sure it will eventually be a cult classic among the 45-65-year-old still-mask-wearing, cat mom crowd.

Wow...

Anyway, I'm anxious to see it as I've heard nothing but good things from people who saw it.

My wife, daughter, and mother-in-law loved it. As did three of my friends. Why the contempt?

I haven't seen it, but considering James L. Brooks produced this, I'd imagine its probably at least decent without all the self-important stuff. His movies are exactly what I was saying previously, which is emotionally honest and straightforward, with plenty of wit.

He didn't direct this, but the trailer looks pretty honest regarding acting + writing.

This is pretty much all I've been hearing from people. The only time I've seen someone bad mouth it is if they're apparently trying to overcompensate and haven't actually seen the film.

It's an excellent film, and boasts one of Zimmer's best scores (which I honestly thought was Thomas Newman until the end credits came up!). Hopefully a soundtrack CD materializes.

The contempt is probably some foolhardy attempt to seem cool or stand out.

Agree with this sentiment re film. Messaging our RC poster and others, what happened to the release? Surprised there is no digital release.

My missus picked this one to watch last night and it was very enjoyable.
Light, fluffy...just a NICE film.
Reminded me of things like MY GIRL and THE WONDER YEARS TV series (which I also enjoyed, so I must be IN for the subject matter).
It was refreshing to feel good after watching a new film and not feel the need to take a shower.
On the few occasions I noticed the pleasant score, it sounded more like Thomas Newman (especially towards the end with the emotional piano/strings moments).

But still no score album, dammit. "Thomas Newman" is a good sell-in right there.
