MV has claimed LLL is going to put out Midnight Run... but that was many years ago now. Also in that category: Elmer Bernstein's Devil in a Blue Dress, remastered expansions of Franz Waxman's Sayonara and The Spirit of St. Louis, and others... who knows if they're still in the works or not. We did finally get a greatly expanded (and better sounding) release of Alfred Newman's The Diary of Anne Frank, after it had been promised for 8 years or something (and he similarly cautioned to not buy a CD reissue of the original album program). So anything's possible... Yavar

If the labels want that sweet Elfman money, they need to release more Elfman titles! I'm happy to order from anyone who puts out an Elfman title—good, bad, ugly. Give me more!

I could’ve sworn he’d been asked about it multiple times since then and offered something along the lines of, “we are still working on this”…no? Yavar

CD from 1984 Publishing just landed, sharing my thoughts. Well packaged, but unwrapped, jewel case. No line notes, but fun pics and design via Dan Goldwasser (?!?!, L?). Encouraged that the great Joel Oss recorded this one - hey, if I didn't play typo police, one of you would! Run time: 16'31 Music: sounds great! Not a music stem, definitely clean tapes were used. Opening of synth marimbas and minimalist writing sounds exactly like if John Wisdom went on holiday to the beach instead of robbing banks. Track two is the B-side to Elfman's Back to School montage. Actually further cues play in this sandbox too, all scholarly trumpet voluntaries and playful harpsichords. Bonus tracks eat up much of the run time, but are great fun. 3:46 & 3:07. More of the Happy Wisdom in the first, a melancholy elec.piano synth melody that reminds me of a Big Top Pee Wee outtake. Sound is excellent, clean and clear. Gotta rec this one guys. Too bad it's literally a suite, but Elfman was having fun here, and I've lived with short Pee Wee/Back to School album for decades, so.... This is a like a fun little 3rd side to that.

Quite welcome for my silly rattle about this odd title. It sure looks like an L production (the wink to Dan G ), but aside from a small credit page (orch. by Bartek, etc.), the typo Joel (M)oss, not a word. All the rights stuff is in order, new mastering chap, to me at least (Marty Lester at Everwhere Audio). Very odd release, but a fun one, and I paid a dollar a minute for Shamus & Those Secrets, so..... Pressed disc too. Cheers!! Sean
