I always felt the original soundtrack short changed us on score cues like Linus' New Life and Nantucket Visit.
I loved that stuff and hope there's loads more like it on this fantastic looking release.
Can't wait.

I can't wait for it. Everything from Williams is a cherished gem. It doesn't mean his music is perfect, but everything he does he does fully with the entire force of his creativity, experience, expertise, and human honesty put into it. Greater than just the music, listening to a complete album with liner notes is yet another opportunity to see just a little bit further into his creative process, in the context of a given score. The Maurizio Caschetto podcasts are wonderful icing on the cake.

Like him or not, like this score or not, I hope film score fans can grasp what an absolute privilege it is to be able to experience the contributions of someone like John Williams to this art form and have access in this way. Goldsmith had a little bit of this before he passed, but more would have been loved.

There is nobody left who has that level of knowledge, experience, and dedication to wonderfully touching music that can be both popular and deeply creative with such tremendous virtuosity. He has been a through-line from some of the earliest music in film scores to the present, channeled through his incredibly deep and vast knowledge of music.

It's not a knock on composers now, but all of the above is no longer valued or needed by the industry at this point. Films now demand a fraction of that and audiences have been trained to be happy with that fraction.

There's a spot waiting in my library for this one.

Nothing more to say. My thoughts exactly. Bravo!

GREAT podcast. Can't wait to hear the new album. Amazed to discover the original album only had HALF the score Williams recorded for the picture, and that both discs in this case are chock full. The Mike Lang improvisation on one of the Williams themes from Disc 2 was incredible and very moving to me.

Yavar

Ditto here. I never really warmed up much to the score on the OST and felt the experience was half empty. Enter this new expanded release and we will now experience the full album as written and recorded. Can't wait to hear all the party music and standards on disc 2 including the piano solos.

2 CDs? Did not know there was so much unreleased music.

I hope there's a lot.

Unfortunately I fear that it'll simply be a redundant issue of the original album.

Oh boo hoo. The best of both worlds. It's the worst thing ever.

https://lalalandrecords.com/sabrina-expanded-limited-edition-2-cd-set/

La-La Land Records, Paramount Pictures and Universal Music Enterprises present a special 2-CD remastered and expanded release of Academy Award-Winning composer John Williams’ (E.T., SCHINDLER’S LIST, ALWAYS) original motion picture score to the 1995 big-screen romantic comedy/drama SABRINA directed by Sydney Pollack and starring Harrison Ford, Julia Ormond and Greg Kinnear. Maestro Williams’ sophisticated and deeply romantic original score, also featuring expert arrangements and new recordings of classic standards, provide the pitch-perfect, elegant backdrop to this successful re-make of the 1954 Billy Wilder-helmed film of the same title.

Expanded greatly beyond the 1995 SABRINA soundtrack album and including previously unreleased music, this deluxe, remastered presentation showcases the 53-minute film score presentation, plus alternate cues, on Disc One, while Disc Two, entitled “Party In The Moonlight – Songs of SABRINA,” presents sung versions of the songs “(In The) Moonlight,” performed by Sting, and “How Can I Remember?,” performed by Michael Dees, along with additional instrumental versions of those songs and a collection of well-known melodies conducted by Williams for the film’s various elegant party sequences.

Re-issue album producer Mike Matessino comments this rich collection of original score and the standalone “Party In The Moonlight – Songs of SABRINA,” will “bathe you in the moonlight,” whether it’s played at a party you’re hosting, or if you’re just listening and imagining one.

Produced, edited and mastered by Mike Matessino, this 2-CD release is limited to 3000 units and features exclusive, in-depth liner notes by Matessino and classic art design by Jim Titus.

Is it not yet on La-La Land's website or am I just unable to find it? (Maybe I'm just impatient... but hey, it's May 2nd! :-) )

So when it says "Instrumental" does this mean karaoke (where it's the same music just without singing), or actual instrumental (where the music has the full melody on a different instrument or possibily even a rearrangement)?

Interesting to see new track titles by Williams.
I'm guessing the Nantucket Visit track from the old album is now Off To The Vineyard?

The second disc is giving me the vibe of the JW Boston Pops standards albums - I think called Night and Day and Unforgettable.

Those are très élégant forays into the mid-century easy-listening vibe - lush sans schmaltz.

I don't think the second disc requires any defending from me, despite AdoKrycha007's snark. These are great pieces, some arranged by Williams, and I'm looking forward to hearing them. But if you have no interest, the fact remains that the first disc is full, and there are still two Williams songs, plus variations on those melodies, that don't fit. If you think the second disc is a joke, what would you do with those?
