Looks like a different kind of case meant to protect the jewel case that this soundtrack comes in. They love to offer all types of physical protection to their products.

Can confirm. Unless you pay extra for a hard box, or buy more than $50 of merch, they will ship in a bubble mailer that leaves the contents subject to the usual indignities. A hard box should be the default IMO, but they're made it a premium feature.
The sales window for the first game's soundtrack has officially closed. Limited Run Games now lists all products associated with it as "SOLD OUT". However, Black Screen Records still has it as a pre-order so if you missed your chance, get it there while you still can!
At least there's a bit of overlap between this and the preorder window for TMNT II (as there was for TMNT and TMNT II), so one can preorder two titles at once to save on shipping (as opposed to preordering every title individually and paying separate shipping costs for each).
I didn't realize that would be the case, so I preodered TMNT immediately by itself. Going forward, I'll take advantage of the overlap window to preorder two titles at a time.

Turtles in Time is live! This is the one I know a lot of folks have been waiting for. Better still, it is confirmed to be a 2-CD set, with both the arcade and SNES versions occupying a disc. LRG has somewhat uncharacteristically provided a full tracklist:
