The ability to send private messages to other forum members would be nice.

Dark theme option.
Yes, when browsing with desktop there are add ons that can change the page code and make it any color.
But with phone and tablet browser versions, only few have the feature.

Is it rude or inappropriate to suggest to look and study how the jwfan board is designed?
They got everything right in my opinion.

I would like a "like" button, like on Facebook.

Like.

Exactly. We've had the ability to type "like" for years.

How about not needing to prune out the "http://" when inserting images? Or make sure the [ IMG ] is in lower-case to work?

Automatically delete profanity! I never see any other forum which routinely tolerates the use of bad language.

I hardly ever see profanity here and most people censor themselves when they do. Example: sh*t. Unless you find that offensive too.

Sub-forums. Rather than one General Discussion lumping the entire 100+ years of film music into one forum, I believe dividing topics into decades would promote richer discussions and more informed perspectives/opinions.

My rough suggestions would be sub-forums for:

Golden Age
Silver Age
Modern
Synth/Electronic
Individual composers

I would like a "like" button, like on Facebook.

If this were to be added, I would recommend using Home Theater Forum as reference. In addition to the usual “like” and “dislike” options, it also includes to mark another’s post with “love,” “insightful,” “amused,” or simply “agree.”

Thanks for doing this, Lukas!

* I'd like the ability to delete a post (or perhaps the site can deny post duplicates, which currently happens when a member hits "post" more than once).

* A simplified way to embed photos and videos without having to modify text with the code legend.

I also second the ability to like, as well as an improved search engine.

Pretty much captures my top 2. To search Id add tags.

Would be nice if you could subscribe to threads and there’s a new posting or reply. Not just you have to keep checking the board. Be nice to get email digest. Super advanced would be reply to the board email and the reply gets posted

An improved search engine is top of mind for me.

This board, at its best, is an educational resource. There's an embarrassment of riches hidden here – and I'm sure there are legions who'd love to peruse them, both now and in the future.

I understand you have your POV and you're entitled to it, but this forum is, by far, the tamest internet forum I've ever been on with respect to profanity, and that includes mrsraineysbridgeclub.prodigy.net.

I've seen plenty.

First of all, thank you Lukas. This is wonderful news. Not to beat a dead horse but the search option. This may have been mentioned, but I would love to be able to share album art like others do. I know there is a current way to do it but it's antiquated and I am not the only one who has issues with it. Any improvement to sharing images would be awesome.

Thanks again and I look forward to the changes.

Edit: I read Thor's post and I agree that the board has a certain charm that I don't want to see disappear. The search feature and embedding option seem to be among the most popular.

Lots of good suggestions so far, but BY FAR the most user experience-enhancing improvement to me would be being taken to your first unread post when you click on a thread. That alone would make a HUGE difference.

If you're looking for references, the Steve Hoffman Music Forums is the best forum software I've seen on any site (it uses XenForo). It's still an old-school text-based forum, but it has most of the features that have been mentioned so far, along with many others. As a user, it's a delight.

I usually read the board in Chrome with images turned off - some of the text in the white area near the top is invisible (e.g., topic title, Edit Profile). Would be nice if this text was visible with images off.

It would be nice to see other members past posts on their page, not just the topics visited
