Wasn't this series Disney related or Touchstone or something Disney'ish, so wouldn't that be Intrada territory.
Though it aired on ABC (owned by Disney), it was produced by Paramount with Amblin and Lucasfilm. Lucasfilm is now a division of Disney, but obviously Paramount is not (nor is Amblin). Disney recently secured the rights to the character of Indiana Jones for future movies (with Paramount remaining a financial participant), but the rights to the first four movies remain with Paramount. I haven't read anything specific to the rights to the television series, but I'd guess the same applies to it.
The point is, I'm guessing these rights are complicated. And I'd further guess (but could be wrong) that the four Varèse volumes already released might further complicate the soundtrack rights. Whatever, I don't think this is necessarily "Intrada territory," though their passion for Laurence Rosenthal could certainly motivate them to try.
I think this is now in Intrada territory and radar(I really hope) Roger Fiegelson in an interview last year did mention it to be a project of interest. A 2cd series of sets ala BATTLESTAR GALACTICA would be great way bring all the wonderfull music and in particular the unrelased premiere episodes music. Some truly rich music by Laurence Rosenthall and Joel McNeely. One of my TV holy grails.
I have all 4 of the Varese copies. However - I thought I read somewhere that there was a Volume 5 that was released but in limited distribution. Does anyone know of there is any truth to this ??

I believe there was a "best of" album with highlights from previous volumes. But anything styled as a "Volume 5" with previously unreleased scores would have been a bootleg, possibly sourced from a composer promo or promos.
A giant box set of all this music would be absolutely stunning! Fans love Joel McNeely and Laurence Rosenthal. Though to license this from who ever would probably be pricey, who knows. I'd buy a copy !!

I'd buy a copy !! I hope that IF it will come, it will be release as separate volumes (a-la LLL's Batman: TAS) - expensive boxes have one huge flaw - they are too expensive! And I always thought that for labels it's more important, when more people could buy great music, not just to sell just 500 (or so copies) for $250-300 (while they could sell bit more in separate volumes, and made more people happy - that's IMO, of course)
Indeed. We are incredibly lucky to have not just one, but FOUR CDs of this music already. That's not to say I wouldn't want more volumes. But then I'd want them presented exactly as the first four.
I would love to see a complete set of The Young Indy series. I'll be the first to admit, it wasn't the series itself that got me into the music, it was the LEGO Indiana Jones game. I'm pretty sure Disney owns all of that now, but I still hope we'll get an expansion sooner or later (sooner please?? )
I think there was some discussion about a possible interest in this from Intrada in this. But then its Lucasfilm/Disney. So dont hold your breadth.
Outside of the rights issues, I honestly do not think there is enough interest (i. e. day one purchases) in these for a label to go out on a limb ... Kickstarter maybe?
