At 3000 copies SAVAGE ISLAND should be around for a little while at least, hopefully long enough to be able to afford it.

Sweet Monkey Jesus! NATE & HAYES! Never thought that one would ever get released. Thanks, La-La-Land!

re: Nate and Hayes, it's often overstated how an orchestrator was overly responsible for a composer's work...but you can trust your own ears that Peter Knight added a lot to The Dark Crystal and Nate and Hayes -- also Philippe Sarde scores like Tess. And the famous Moody Blues album (forget the title) where he did the arrangements and orchestral interludes.

On another topic: I cannot go through another year with people getting into fights with Ford Thaxton (and vice versa).

Ford: I know you are being playful when calling people a "fool" but others won't get that. Let's all try to put in a little extra effort to be nice to each other while still enjoying ourselves and having fun debates. Thanks.

CADDYSHACK!!! Alright!

Nate And Hayes is no slouch either.

Don't sell it short: Nate and Hayes is a tremendous slouch.

Sorry, couldn't resist. Actually, N&H is a great score.

sorry but no excitement here. frown But great for those that want them!

Hang your head in shame FOOL!

While CADDYSHACK and John Murphy score might not be your thing, TREVOR JONES's score to NATE AND HAYES is one of the best scores in his catalog and is a wonderful swashbuckling score featuring the London Symphony Orchestra.

Before you dismiss it, I'd listen to the clips, this has been one of the most requested scores from the 1980's that hasn't seen the light of day (Till now)..

And what a wonderful way too end the year..

Ford A. Thaxton

don't call me a fool, Ford just because something doesn't interest me. I love some of Trevor Jones' work but these releases (and films) just don't interest me...is that okay with you or do I need your approval?

As a matter of fact you do....

:-)

What do you say we take this out on the patio?

Never heard of the Jones score but swashbuckling + Trever Jones = good possibility. 3000 = should be around for a hwile...

It was whatever album had "Nights In White Satin." I know this because Milan's Shattered included that snore-inducing song after Alan Silvestri's stuff was finished.

I'll also bet any money Shirley Walker had a lot to do with how un-Fiedel Brad Fiedel's True Lies sounds... that said, there's another La-La Land title to add to my increasing pile from this label!

By the way, it's Savage Islands (plural) - co-written by John Hughes, may he rest in peace.

No offense MV but leave the lyric writing to the Bergmans. ;-)

Seriously though, great news about NATE & HAYES. A long cherished score of mine that I will finally get to hear away from the film.

Many thanks,

James

The Zen philosopher Basha once wrote, 'A flute with no holes, is not a flute. A donut with no hole, is a Danish.' He was a funny guy.

I wonder if there'll be a deal on The Dark Crystal to go along with Nate & Hayes - a double dose of Jones goodness.

I concur. GHOULIES also sounds much more Walker than Band to my ears.

NATE AND HAYES is an exciting release to be sure! I'll wait for the sound clips to make a definitive judgment, but this one's a likely grab for me.

And the Sony Special Products news? VERY exciting possibilities!

1. It's a our first release with Sony Special Products. They have different production terms than other companies. In the coming years we will have editions of 3500 units all the way up to 5000 units (depending on the title). Most of those titles will be part of our Expanded Archival Collection.

Hmm... interesting. Very interesting. smile

Yeah, I think HOOK (as a two or three CD-set) might be a 5000 copy release.
Maybe STAR TREK 5 as well.
FIRST KNIGHT.

Is STAR TREK 1 still with Sony ??

What else does Sony have ?

Excellent news with both titles. Nate & Hayes is a fabulous score, and Caddyshack is bound to sell very well...and help fund more score CD's. Smart move

I much prefer the title Nate And Hayes. Savage Islands sounds too much like a cheesy Roger Corman film. Don't miss understand, I love Roger Corman films, but Nate And Hayes don't exactly qualify. smile

Looking forward to purchasing that and Caddyshack. i can finally retire my LP.

Lukas,

We're part of the same family (in a distant sense)..

On second thoughts having done some minor research regarding "Nate and Hayes" (what a crap title - "Savage Island" is alot better) I am reconsidering - after all it is a "Trevor Jones".

Anybody remember Black Angel? It went out with The Empire Strikes Back in the UK. That was scored by Trevor Jones.
