OK, now that I am done lifting my jaw off the floor .... POLTERGEIST is my #1 favorite Goldsmith score. I always suspected that FSM would get to do this one -- my hunch was spot on! (I remember guessing Twilight Zone The Movie being one too.) My copy of the Rhino CD is well used, let me tell you. The booklet is slightly ripped and scuffed from numerous listens over the past 13 years. I remember ordering this from S.T.A.R. back in 1997, so happy to be finally getting a CD of Poltergeist. I was never aware that the sound quality was substandard until recently, having read about it. It would be difficult for me to compare the LP with the Rhino CD, since my exposure to the LP is from a cassette tape a good friend made for me back in 1993. She bought the Poltergeist LP at a flee market for $5 and promptly dubbed it for me. I was intensely fascinated by this music as a boy and a teenager. The movie itself has always been an amazing experience for me as well. This one cemented my interest in everything Goldsmith, the measuring stick by which all others were compared. Poltergeist is also one of few "perfectly scored" pictures from Goldsmith. FIRST BLOOD, BASIC INSTINCT, all of the Franklin Schaffner fims ... Poltergeist had a caring director (well, sort of since Spielberg didn't technically direct it) who was considerate of Goldsmith's talents and let him have almost free reign over the score. So Lukas -- what alternates can we expect on this new set?? -Rick O.

Thank you Lukas...I will happily upgrade my Rhino CD to your 2 disc edition as I love Poltergeist and think this is one of Goldsmiths finest hours (along with Total Recall and First Blood)
