make a 25 minutes long interview with Elfman - Jon Burlingame

Well THAT would certainly keep me from buying the box.

I'd love to hear alt versions, and early demos. I think this is a fantastic chance to a get a look inside their relationship and hear a bit of their process. The give and take.

I'd love to hear an early demo of Edward Scissorhands or Beetlejuice. (I seem to remember reading Elfman had a "whole different score" planned for Beetlejuice, then realized made a huge change when he saw the finished film. Would love to hear any early ideas he had.)

Maybe there could be a disc of Elfman's favorite cues that weren't used in the final film??

Thanks for this opportunity!

I think it would kinda of crazy to do "Mars Attacks", "Batman" & "Batman Returns" since La La Land Records released and will be releasing the expanded editions of the scores this year("Batman" 27th of this month and "Batman Returns" Christmas of '10). I think more "Pee Wee's Big Adventure" would be good. More "Beetlejuice", more "Sleepy Hollow", more "Nightmare Before Christmas", more "Corpse Bride, more "Charlie and The Chocolate Factory", more "Planet of The Apes", more "Alice in Wonderland" and of course, more "Edward Scissorhands" no doubt. Many of the album scores have been "bootleg" releases with poor sound quality. Glad to see that everyone is "Elfman" crazed. He is the composer that got me into film music and collecting, back in 1989... now with well over 1300 film scores on CD(still growing strong), over 100 film scores on cassette and over 50 film scores on viny...l I have to say he still is amazing.

This box set sounds very promising. The only Elfman/Burton collaborations I have are Batman (soon to be replaced by LLL's new issue) and Sleepy Hollow, so I'm very interested in this collection.

If only Scrooged had been a Burton movie, though, because that remains my most-wanted Elfman score. big grin

Put me down for Pee Wee's Big Adventure also.

I'd like to see more of Planet of the Apes.

Beetlejuice definitely needs remastering in the worst way. But it would be great to have alot of unreleased material from their collaborations, it would definitely make the price of the set the more worthwhile.

Please include the circus music from Big Fish, and could he complete the composition for Victor's Piano solo and Piano Duet from Corpse Bride? They are beautiful and lovely..

Hope the box will include Overeager Overture, Scrooged, Family Man, Nacho Libre etc. etc. big grin

Elfman/Burton only box, dude, though I'm right with you wishing all those could be released...

I wholeheartedly agree about Corpse Bride--Victor's Piano solo and Piano Duet WITHOUT DIALOGUE (!!!!) would be wonderful. Even if they were never written as complete pieces, it would be SO nice to have them alone without the words over the last few seconds....

Not meant to be snark - but it seems to me the the Burton/Elfman collaboration is one that's pretty well represented already... of course people will want the original tracks from PEE WEE on legitimate disc, but other than demos for NIGHTMARE and CORPSE BRIDE, what else is really there for the picking, other than re-re-releasing stuff that's already out there?

Personally, the only rare thing, if it even exists, that would make it a must-own would be any Howard Shore music for MARS ATTACKS!

Exactly.
I don't believe someone paying big money for box set only to have something like Pee Wee. And I don't think this box set is aimed at fans that need every note from each movie.

Seriously dude? I know you aren't the only one to do this, but why not start a different thread instead of putting this comment into the thread SPECIFICALLY asking for recommendations about additional material to INCLUDE in the set. Comments along the lines of "releasing expanded Elfman scores is a waste of time" are rather insulting given the fact that Mr. Kraft was considerate enough to inquire whether those of us INTERESTED IN PURCHASING IT have any requests for unreleased music by Danny Elfman we'd like to hear. Feel free to start a complaining-about-it thread if you must, but why piss on the chances of something as grand as this happening again (perhaps with a composer YOU would prefer) by saying something rude on a thread meant for the eyes the very execs who might be responsible for some day releasing YOUR grail.

I'm very much looking forward to ANY additional music from the scores that might be included in the box and the more there is, the more likely I'll be to buy a set of scores I already own in their original forms (much as was the case with the Indiana Jones box). Besides, unless you were intimately involved with the recording process of the films, you really don't have any basis (except the theoretical) to say that there isn't more amazing music waiting to be added to some already amazing scores.

That may be true, but I want as many of those notes as I can get. And I'm sure there are many others who feel the same way.

Besides, buying all the soundtracks again is the only way to get the book and DVD. And the fact that they are considerate enough to ask us what we want on it, means its a must buy for me. Although I do have another suggestion for the set....please no digipaks!!

For a box set, they take up too much space anyway. An actual box (rather than a slipcase) with discs in sleeves is the best way. Keeps everything nice and compact.

Just post your tentative complete track list for the box right here . . .

. . . and we shall inform you of what changes we require.

I think the OP question was pretty clear. Maybe not a thread you should be contributing too then?

I have a Batman single that has a remix of the theme, that was NOT on the La-La release, that would be a neat piece to put on it.

La-La do you know of this piece? It was on a mirror like CD single back in the day.

Are you a moron?

Seriously, dude - are you a fucking moron?

How is asking a legitimate question 'pissing on' this release? As someone who owns quite a bit of Danny Elfman's scores, I think it is quite a legitimate question... maybe if you had actually answered it instead of attacking me and my perceived motives, I wouldn't be calling you a fucking moron.

Mr. Kraft's intentions aren't in question here - I'm sure the finished product will be quite high quality, and I'm sure there are enough fans of both Tim Burton and Danny Elfman to buy it... otherwise, he wouldn't be soliciting fan opinion.

So, AGAIN - is there ANYBODY out there who can, in a civil fashion, answer the question I asked?
