As for the new material, well, one track stood out for all the wrong reasons.
Theme From First Blood [Pop Orchestra Version]
Whilst I am a big admirer of this score, I'm not a fan of Disco, even when Goldsmith did it. In fact I cannot stand Disco music nor Disco styled film scores. I've said it before, I'm saying it again.
Thank goodness this horrid rendition of the main theme was dropped from the final film. It would date the film shamefully today.
I feel the same way. It reminds me of soundtrack cover albums compilations that you can get 3 discs for 20 bucks or something of the sort doing It's a Long Road.
This truly is one of my favorite Goldsmith scores, so to have this in the best possible sound (the samples do sound great) and at a single disc price makes this a no brainer! Thanks Doug for having such good taste in choosing which releases deserve the ultimate treatment

What a fantastic track the pop version of the theme is and what a pity it wasn't used over the end titles. It really sends tingles down my spine, a gorgeous version of a great theme. That track alone is enough to make me buy this new release.
Well done Intrada and heres to the next 25 years!!!

Disco music - gorgeous???
It’s certainly been a long road for the English language.
With money tight this time of year - may have to delay getting this - especially with La La Land annoucements coming soon. Is this limited or unlimited edition?

Despite the new release´s major improvement in sound quality?
Yes. I find the sound quality very good on the Varese. It's not like it's a scratchy, archival 30's score or anything.
This is one of my favourite Goldsmith scores - not so much the action music, but the superb melancholy of the main theme - connoting loneliness in vast, forested areas covered in autumny, misty hues. Goldsmith's TWIN PEAKS, if you will.
BTW i have the feeling that the first two notes of the solo trumpet are a result of the trumpet player that suddenly realise that he is "on" - they do sound a bit that - anyway it's charming so i have made it like that in the transciption
