Great work Doug and your team! Now everybody gets a chance of owning this masterwork without having to take out a second mortgage on their homes.

Thanks Intrada! You guys are one of the longest winning rolls of all time.

Cheers!

Wow, $20 for a three-disc set and it's unlimited...? eek

Well, it could easily have fit on two.

Normally I don't buy unlimited releases right away but this one I jumped on because it's so awesome. Ordered with the Kritzerland from SAE.

There are some scores that are too good to be out of print and this is one of them. I hope Intrada does very well with this, PATTON, FIRST BLOOD and hopeful future reissues.

I daresay THE SAND PEBBLES is one of them. Oh, I have the Varese Deluxe, but it is much too classic Goldsmith not to be more readily available.

I don't think there is any Goldsmith that deserves to be out of print.

I am so happy this one is unlimited because I am gonna need a week to catch up and get it! I just hope that 48 Hours stays around long enough as well.

ya know i love the film and have seen it many times.
And, it has a great, memorable theme.
But, i never really noticed anything special about the UNDERSCORE. So i never bought the soundtrack.
Strange

Agreed. I have to say it took me awhile to warm up to THE SAND PEBBLES but I now hold it in as high regard as Goldsmith's more "obvious" classics (POA, Chinatown, etc.)

As for THE GREAT ESCAPE, I'm a little embarrassed to admit I am not familiar with the score except for the main theme - amazingly I haven't even seen the film. But I know that the score is widely considered a classic and I'll have to pick this one up soon. What's terrific is that Intrada is continuing to release important scores and not limiting their availablilty. I truly hope that they continue this trend - thanks Doug and all at Intrada!

I've never owned the Varese Club release, as I wasn't around here back then. I'm proud to finally own this at a price I can afford.

Such a deal!

So this is MAF and is not limited correct?

And that is something else I wanted to know. smile

I will be getting this once I get some Christmas bills paid.

Great, Intrada have removed the "print through" and (sorry Basil) put Yankee Doodle back where it should have been in the first place. Superb release (for once I guessed correctly) I'm really looking forwards to getting this.

They removed what and put what back?

I'm really not sure I follow you here... confused

Excellent release. A Score which really should be redily available finally is.

I missed out on the Varese edition and there was no way I would have paid the outrageous ebay prices for it (watch those prices tumble now!), so to get both versions in one package for a great price is fantastic.

Ordered this along with 48 hours. Nice start to 2011.

This will make a lot more fans happy than Greatest Story would have.
(Purely based on the availability factor.)

Im not sure what you mean -- is TGSET set out of print? was there talk of a new release?

Sorry Basil, it wasn't you. it was Basil Wrathbone who preferred Yankee Doodle at the end of the cd (after the finale) which is where Varese placed it.

I prefer it in film order.

The print through on the Varese, marred what was otherwise a superb album, plus the fact that Intrada have used the original artwork (one of my all time favourite posters) makes this a must buy.

He's referring to a comment by the other Basil.

For me the first association is the Simpsons parody with Maggie in the daycare place big grin

Still undecided on whether to get it, it's a great theme and 'classic'. Same reaction I had to Intrada's Patton release, great to see it released again but do I really want this complete to listen to? This might be one of those rare times where just the main theme is sufficient enough for me. I need to see the movie again.
